COUNTY OF BALDWIN
The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session at
the City Hall, Monday, June 12, 1967 at 7:30 P.M. with the follow-
ing members present: Mayor Macon, Councilmen: Spader, Reynolds,
Stipes, Gaston and Stine.
The =1:± minutes of the previous regular meeting and the special
meeting of June 9, 1967 were approved.
Alabama Service Representative met with the Council pertaining to
Ambulance service in the City. Referred to the Chief of Police.
Motion by Councilman Stipes seconded by Councilman Gaston that the
following Ordinance be introduced: Motion carried.
ORDINANCE NO. „378
AN ORDINANCE CHANGING THE NAME OF VALLEY DRIVE TO LISA
DRIVE IN FAIRHOPE, ALABAMA AND REPEALING ANY AND ALL
ORDINANCES THAT MAY BE IN CONFLICT HEREWITH
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Fairhope,
Fairhope, Alabama that the street name of Valley Drive now located
within the municipal limits of the City of Fairhope, Fairhope,
Alabama be. -and the same is hereby changed to LISA DRIVE, Fairhope;
Alabama.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that any Code Section under the Mun-
icipal Code of Fairhope, Alabama, or Ordinances that may conflict
herewith be, and the same are hereby repealed.
ADOPTED THIS THE DAY OF- 1967.

Motion by Councilman Reynolds seconded by Councilman Stipes that
J. E. Gaston, Jr. be appointed to Ivunicipal Airport Board for a
two year period. Motion carried.
notion by Councilman Spader seconded by Councilman Stipes that the
request to appoint a Medical Clinic Board be tabled until the next
regular meeting of the City Council. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Reynolds seconded by Councilman Stipes that
the request of the Jaycees to hold 4th of July celebration on the
beach be granted. Motion caRRIED.
Motion by Councilman Spader seconded by Councilman Stine that the
following Resolution be adopted. Motion ca rried.
RESOLUTION
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE, ALABAMA
that when the presently proposed sewers are installed in the area of
Colonial Acres, that a line will be extended to serve the Fa,irhope
Swimming Pool and that a connection will be made as soon as said
sewer becomes available.
Motion by Councilman Reynolds seconded by Councilman Stipes that
the bill of C. A. Mattingly be approved for payment subject to
approval by the Recreation Board. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Stipes seconded by Councilman Stine that the
bills be approved for payment. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Spader seconded by Councilman Reynolds that
the meeting adjourn.
Councilman Gaston brought up for discussion the motion of special
meeting held on June 9, 1967 to purchase the Fairhope Casino and
property in accordance with the condemnation price of $24,750.00
set by the Courts.
Motion by Councilman Stipes seconded by Councilman Reynolds that
the meeting adjourn. Upon being put to vote the following vote was
recorded: Voting For: Councilmen: Spader, Reynolds, Stipes and Stin
Voting Against: Councilman Gaston. Motion carr,3>ed.

Upon recommendation of the Recreation Board, Councilman Stine
moved, seconded by Councilman Stipes that the City accept low
bid of Linden Construction Company for rest rooms, dressing rooms,
showers and sanitary facilities in the swimming pool area at a
cost of $179886.00. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Reynolds seconded by Councilman Stipes that
the following REsolution be adopted:
RESOLUTION
Whereas, the money authorized to purchase Casino and put in
escrow for same was not in accordance with motion made and passed
at regular meetings of the City Council of June 28, 1965 and
July 129 1965 concerning the purchase of Fairhope Casino property,
and
Whereas, it comes to our attention that the Escrow agreement
does not comply with the Council's instructions in the motion,
Therefore, we, as the City Council, declare this Escrow
agreement null and void.
Following are the motions made by the City Council at their
regular meeting of June 28, 1965 and July 12, 1965 concerning the
Escrow agreement and a copy of Escrow agreement:
Exicerpts from the minutes of June 28, 1965
"Motion by Councilman Stipes seconded by Councilman Stine that
the City of Fairhope purchase the Fairhope Casino from Dr. George
Mitchell in the amount of $23000.00 with the provisions that Dr.
Mitchell can provide the City with a clear bill of sale to the
Fairhope Casino and personal property located therein and that the
Fairhope Single Taxi Corporation provide the City of Fairhope with
a clear deed to that parcel of land on which the Fairhope Casino
is located. It is further stipulated that the possession will be
turned over to the City upon delivery of the Bill of Sale from the
Leasehold owner and upon the delivery of Warranty Deed from the
Fairhope Single Tax Corporation in order that the City may comment
destruction and rmmoval of the structure presently k/located on the
site for the overall improvement of the beach area. Motion Barrie
unanimously."

"Motion by Councilman Stipes seconded by Councilman Stine that
the Mayor be authorized to put money to purchase the Casino
in Escrow in accordance with the motion in minutes of June 28,
1965 pertaining to same. Motion carried."
