HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-22-1967 Regular MeetingSTATE OF ALABAMA COUNTY OF BALDWIN The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session at the City Hall, Monday, May 22, 1967 at 7:30 P.M. with the following members present: Mayor Macon, Councilmen: Spader, Reynolds,Stipes, Gaston and Stine. The minutes of the previous regular meeting were approved. Mr. Walter Poser Jr. met with the Council pertaining to I B M Punch Card Accounting Equipment. Motion by Councilman Stine seconded by Councilman Gaston that permit be granted to Chester Hunt to retail alcoholic beverages at "Hunt's Haven", a private club, located on Young Street within the Police Jurisdiction of the City. of Fairhope. Upon being put to vote the following vote was recorded: For: Councilmen: Stine, Gaston, Stipes and Reynolds. Against: Councilman Spader. Motion carried. Electric service in Colonial Acres was discussed and carried over to the next regular meeting of the Council. Councilman Reynolds left the meeting at 8:00 P.M. Motion by Councilman Gaston seconded by Councilman Stine that City approve assignment by AAA Air Service, Inc. to Alabama Aircraft, Inc., lease and agreement between the Fairhope Airport Board and AAA Air Service, Inc., dated January 309 1964. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Spader seconded by Councilman Stine that the City hire five (5) temporary employees for the Street Department from June 1 to September 1, 1967 at $1.25 per hour. Motion carri', Motion by Councilman Gaston seconded by Councilman Stipes that the Police Department be authorized to purchase Radar equipment. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Stine seconded by Councilman Stipes that an additional $1500.00 be appropriated for beach improvement. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Spader seconded by Councilman Stine that Harry L. Yates, Sr. be employed as Water and Sewer Superintendent at a salary of $500.00 per month. Motion carried. General Superintendent was authorized to get bids for tractor and back hoe for the next regular meeting of the Council. It was duly moved and seconded that the meeting adjourn. Motion carried.
