HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-28-2024 City of Fairhope Parking Authority Meeting MinutesCity of Fairhope Parking Authority Meeting Minutes Monday, October 28, 2024, 8:00 a.m. Fairhope Museum of History, 24 North Section Street, Fairhope, Alabama 36532 Members in Attendance: Bryan Flowers, Chad Bartz, Mandy Bezeredi, Kelly Gribler, Chris Shrader, and Morgan Slay. Josh Turner and Beth Fugard absent. Staff present: Chief Stephanie Hollinghead and Jenny Opal Wilson, Assistant City Clerk. Guests: Gary Gover Bryan Flowers called meeting to order at 8:20 a.m. Chad Bartz made a motion to approve the meeting minutes of September 10, 2024. Seconded by Chris Shrader, motion passed unanimously. Bryan Flowers gave a brief post meeting overview on the Arts Alley PR Campaign. Paige Crawford, Director of Community Affairs, City of Fairhope will support the Parking Authority on campaign. Chad Bartz will setup a meeting with Paige Crawford to discuss and update the back side of the Visitor Guide with Arts Alley parking. Chad Bartz will work on Arts Alley post cards for the Chamber of Commerce and the Grand Hotel. Chad Bartz will contact Alex Robinson to obtain a list of business owners to send out Arts Alley post cards. Morgan Slay will work with Chief Stephanie Hollinghead on Downtown Map for the Parking Study with business owners. Bryan Flowers will take lead for discussion with Mayor Sherry Sullivan on the follow-up of Shuttle Stops, Routes, and Arts Alley. Bryan Flowers discussed the Parking Authority Presentation at the City Council Work Session on October 14, 2024. Councilmember Jack Burrell discussed the enforcement of parking spaces. Bryan will initiate dialogue with the Hampton Inn on enforcing parking tags to identify hotel guests with assigned parking spaces. Gary Gover made public comment that the Hampton Inn is under a change of management. Bryan Flowers addressed the 15-Minute Parking Signage looks great. Chief Stephanie Hollinghead acknowledged that John Thomas, Assistant Public Works Director is over this project. City of Fairhope Parking Authority Meeting Minutes Page 2 Bryan Flowers addressed New Initiatives for Parking Authority. Mandy Bezeredi announced the New Construction Parking at Coastal Alabama Community College will begin on November 12th with twenty-seven (27) new parking spaces. There will be six (6) locations setup for food trucks during events. Students are utilizing parking at Arts Alley. Bryan Flowers inquired with Chief Stephanie Hollinghead on the paving of Arts Alley. She confirmed to her understanding Arts Alley will be paved. Chief Stephanie Hollinghead confirmed that City Council has approved the Two Hour Parking on Pine Street. Signage has not been placed on street. Bryan Flowers addressed the 2025 Budget. Bryan noted there are no One Way Streets in the budget. The Parking Authority would like to see One Way streets in the 2026 Budget. The Parking Authority will continue discussion with City Council. Morgan Slay will take lead in identifying streets. Morgan referenced Bellangee Avenue and Oak Avenue would benefit. Bryan Flowers will reach out to Josh Turner on his continued membership. Chief Stephanie Hollinghead set up the next meeting for Monday, December 3, 2024 at 8:00 a.m. at the Fairhope Museum of History.
