STATE OF ALABAMA
COUNTY OF BALDWIN
The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session
at the City Hall, Monday, May 249 1965 at 7:30 P. M. with the
following members present: Mayor Maoon, Councilmen: R. J.
Spader, R. Roy Reynolds, J. A. Stipes, J. E. Gaston, Jr. and
R. H. Stine.
The minutes of the previous regular meeting were approved.
Motion by Councilman Reynolds seconded by Councilman Gaston that
the following Resolution be adopted: Motion carried unanimously.
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, the Planning Board of the City of Fairhope
has rendered many services to the community for many years, and,
WHEREAS, these efforts and benefits to the d.tizens of
our community have been under the guidance and direction of its
Chairman, MR, J. E. WOOLLEY, and,
WHEREAS, the City of Fairhope is in receipt of a
letter of resignation from the said J. E. WOOLLEY as Chairman
and member of the Planning Board for the City of Fairhope, and,
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council and
Mayor of the City of Fairhope to express its appreciation for
the many valuable years of service given by the said J. Be WOOLLEY
as Chairman of the Planning Board of the City of Fairhope,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that the City
Council and the Mayor of the City of Fairhope hereby egress its
profoundappreciation to J. E. WOOLLEY for the many services
and valuable efforts expended by J. E. WOOLLEY in his years as
Chairman and member of the Planning Board of the City of Fairhope,
and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council and the
Mayor of the City of Fairhope do hereby acknowledge the progress
made by the City in its planning efforts under the enlightened
guidance of the said J. E. WOOLLEY,
Dated this 24th day of May, 1965.
The committee appointed to secure a site and possibility of
constructing a Recreation Building reported that the e
cost of building would be approximately $5g°Vo $60,000.00
Including Architect's fee. No further action taken at this time.
Councilman Reynolds left the meeting at approximately 8:15 P.M.
City Attorney and committee reported on retirement plan for
City employees. After a general discussion, Councilman Stipes
moved, Councilman Gaston seconded, that the New England Life
Insurance Company be authorized to prepare a proposal and prepare
material to be presented to employees at no cost to the City for
a retirement plan with the understanding that the City is under
no obligation to install the retirement program unless at least
75% of the employees of the City elect to become a part of the
program. Motion carried unanimously.
Councilman Spader was appointed to look into the possibility of
securing public rest rooms in the City.
The City Engineer was instructed to make a preliminary survey on
sewer extensions in the City at no cost to City until construction
is started.

Motion by Councilman Stipes seconded by Cousilman Spader that
the meeting adjourn. Motion carried.
