HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-08-1965 Regular MeetingSTATE OF ALABAMA COUNTY OF BALDWIN The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session at the City Hall, Monday, March 89 1965 at 7:30 P. M. with the following members presents Mayor Macon, Councilmen: R. J. Spader, Roy Reynolds, Jack Stipes, J. E., Gaston, Jr. and R. H. Stine. Notion by Councilman Stipes seconded by Councilman Stine that Eloise T. Wilsoh be appointed as Acting Clerk in the absence of Marie Mooreq City Clerk. Motion carried unanimously., Minutes of unadjourned meeting of February 26, 1965 were corrected to reads Motion by Councilman Stipes seconded by Councilman Spader that the bids be taken under advisement for evaluation and action taken at the next regular meeting of the City Council on March 8, 1965. Minutes approved as corrected. Motion by Councilman Gaston seconded by Councilman Spader that Mr. Dyson be instructed to proceed with boat ramp north of the Casino at an approximate cost of $350.00, Motion carried unanimously. Action on the bid of Randall Manders for wharf repair and piling removal was postponed until next meeting. Notion by Councilman Gaston seconded by Councilman Reynolds that if the Recreation Board deems it necessary they be authorized to contract for plans and specifications for needed facilities to open the swimming pool. Motion carried unanimously. Letter from Donald Mills was read with recommendation for awarding contract on water treatment plant. Notion by Councilman Stipes, seconded by Councilman Gaston that the Council table the final awarding of contract for water treatment plant until such time as the Council has made proper evaluation of all bids. Notion carried unanimously. Notion by Councilman Gaston seconded by Councilman Stine that the application of Eugene Bosby to retail packaged beer at Mitchell's Grocery on Young Street be approved. Upon being put to vote the,following vote was recorded: For: Councilman Gaston, Stine, Stipes and Reynolds. Against: Councilman Spader, Notion Carried. Motion by Councilman Stine seconded by Councilman Reynolds that Dr. R. H Johnson be reappointed to the Recreation Board for a period of five years, effective March 11, 1961. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Councilman Reynolds seconded by Councilman Spader that the City accept contract of Randall Nonders for repairs on diving platforms, steps and walks. Notion carried unanimously. Motion by Councilman Spader seconded by Councilman Stine�o01that the bills be approved for payment. 0 Airport basic liability insurance was discussed and Mr. Niemeyer authorized to get bids for next regular meeting. The Mayor appointed Councilmen Stine and Gaston as a committee to study pay roll schedule for all City employees. Councilman Stine introduced the following Ordinances 41 ORDINANCE NO. 336 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE # 295• BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE, ATABA.MA, that Section 139 District Boundaries of Zoning Ordinance No. 295 be amended as recommended by the Planning and Zoning Commission by rezoning the following described property from R-2 to B-1: Lots 22, 239 249 Block 59 Volanta. Councilman Gaston moved that all rules governing the Council which might, unless suspended, prevent the passage and adoption of Ordinance No. 336 at this meeting, be and the same are hereby suspended for the purpose of permitting the said Ordinance to be finally passed and adopted at this meeting. Councilman Stipes seconded the motion. The cpstion was put before the Council and on roll call the vote was as follows: Yea: Councilmen: Spader, Reynolds, Stipes, Gaston and Stine. Nay: None. The Mayor declared the motion adopted by unani- mous vote of members present. Motion by Councilman Stine that Ordinance No. 336 amending Section 139 District Boundaries of Zoning Ordinance No. 295, be finally passed and adopted as introduced. Councilman Gaston seconded this motion. The Mayor then put the question of final passage and adoption of the said Ordinance to vote of the Council, and on roll call the results were as follows: Yea: Counoilmen: Spader, Reynolds, Stipes, Gaston and Stine. Nays: None, The Mayor then declared the Ordinance finally passed and adopted by unani- mous vote of the Council. Letter from Isadore Reynolds read to the Council but no action taken at this time,,, It was duly moved and seconded th he meeting adjourn. Notion carried.
