Counci Imen: Gaston, Nelson,. Poser and Schermer. Councilman Boone being absent. The: minutes: of the previous regular meeting were read and approved. Mr. Claude Evans rret with the Council relative to beer and I iquor permits at the Pier Club, a private club., at the Fairhope Casino. Leters of protest from the Fairhope Ministerial Association and from the Pastor of the Methodist Church were read and discussed. Rev. After a, general discussion, Councilman Schermer moved that action be tabled until the next,- meeting.- of the Council. Motion seconded by Counci I man Nelson. Motion carried. Request from Fh i 1 I i p ;vt i tche:l I for permit to se I I packaged beer at Q u i'c—P i s Store on Greeno Road was brought up for discussion. A pet i't i on in favor of permit and a letter protesting permit were read. Motion by Councilman Nelson seconded by Councilman Gaston that the permit be rejected. Upon being put; to vote the f* following vote was recorded: For: Councilmen Gaston, Nelson and Poser. Councilman Schermer not voting. Motion carried. Dr-. Mu I I ins, Chairman of the Airport Committee, reported that the committee had secured an option on land for airport,, that a preliminary survey had been made by Moore Engineers and requested Counci•1 approval to submit request for aid with F. A. A. Approval granted. Mr. Max hl i I ter,. C. P. A.,gave a. report on the annual audit of the City. Motion by Counc i I man Schermer seconded by Counci I man Gaston that Mr. R . C. Lacey be appointed as C ivi I Defense Director of the City of Fairhope= with powers and duties as out I i ned ' i n City Ordinance No. 269. Motion carried. Mot ion by Counc i I man Schermer seconded by Counc 1 I man Poser that the City send two men to civil. defense Auxiliary Police Instruct -or Training, Dec. 3 thru Dec. ILA.,, to be held in Montgomery. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Nelson seconded b.y Councilman Poser, that $150..00 be appropriated for advertising in the Governor's Innaugural Parade Program. Motion carried. r'Aotion by Councilman Poser seconded by Councilman Gaston that the Revised Subdivision Regulations, as approved by the Fairhope Planning and Zoning Commission, be introduced for adoption. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Schermer seconded by Councilman Poser that the Revised Zoning,and Nkobile Park Ordinance, as recommended by the Planning and Zoning Commission, be introduced for adoption. motion carried. otion by Councilman Poser seconded by Councilman Gaston that the. Motion carried. Motion by Counci [ man Gaston seconded by Counci I man Nelson that the fo I lowing Resolution be adopted: Motion carried. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE: That the City pom-nend the State Board of Health for- their work in determining the bacteria count of the waters of Mobile Bay along the Eastern Shore and, particularly, the waters adjacent to Fairhope; That, since the waters adjacent to Fairhope contained' an unusually high bacteria .count that did not seem to stem from any sewage outflow from the Fai rhope: Sanitary Sewer System,. the City respectfully requests the State Board of Health to continue with a systematic study of the waters of Mobile Bay -in, the Fairhope area so that the cause of the high bacteria count may be determined; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that once the cause of this high bacteria count is determined,. all agencies of the City of Fairhope will cooperate in every possible way to assist in this cause so that the waters in the Fairhope area may be preserved for the healthful use and enjoyment of the citizens.
