HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-22-1962 Regular MeetingSTATE OF ALABAMA County of Baldwin The City Counc i l of the City of Fa i rh ope met in regular session at the City Hall,Monday, October 22,, 1962 at 7:30 P.M. with the following members present: Mayor Schneider, Councit:nenr Boone, Gaston and Nelson. Absent: Councilmen: Poser and Schermer. The minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and,approved as read. Ordinance No. 291, An Ordirtan(te Limiting and Regulating the use of Air — Conditioning Systems Discharging Water into the Ciity Sanitary Sewer System, introduced. at the regular meeting of, October G, 1962 was,brought up for final adoption. Councilman Boone moved that Ordinance #291 be adopted as introduced, Councilman Gaston seconded the motion and upon being put,to vote the following vote wasrecorded: For: Councilmen: Boone,, Gaston and Nelson. Against: None. Councilmen Poser and. Schermer being absent. Motion carried. Ord i nance 7*24, an Ord in ance Des gnat i ng Ho i days for C i ty Employees, introduced at the: regular meeting of October 8, 1962 was brought up for final adoption. Motion by Councilman Nelson seconded by Councilman Boone that Ordinance #29� be adopted as introduced. Upon being put to vote the following vote was recorded: Fors Councilmen. Boone, Gaston and Nel:son., Against: None. Councilmen Poser and Schermer being absent. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Nelson seconded by Councilman Gaston that action on the application of Claude Evans for Beer and Liquor permits for the Pier Club, Inc.., a private club,, at the Fairhope Casino be postponed until thin next regular meeting of the City Council. Motion carried. A letter from Mr. R. Rosenquist relative to paving Satsuma Street was read and discussed. Mr. Byrne was instructed to write Mr. Rosenquist that Satsuma St. could be included in the next paving venture at $4.00 per foot and upom agreement of the -majority of the property owners. Motion by Councilman Boone seconded by Councilman Nelson that permit be issued to Muscular Dystrophy Association for Downtown Teen —Age March,, Saturday, Nov. 10, 1962. Motion carried. Letter from the Fairhope- Single Tax C orporation relative to paving Bancroft Street was read and discussed. Action postponed until the. next .regular meeting of the Council. Motion by Councilman Nelson seconded by Councilman. Boone that Prospect Street be opened to Greeno Blvd. and V0..00 authorized for the purchase of drain tile. Motion carried. The Council mwi� requested that Mr. Lqcey meet with the.Council at their next regular meeting to discuss: the Riviera, Utilities contract. Hone, Investment Corporation letter of October 13 was read to the Council and referred to the General Superintendent acid Councilman Boone. Letter from 4Jarren*Rowe Insurance Agency requesting opportunity to bid on insurance coverage for the City was read and referred,to Councilman Schermer. Dr..MulIins reported on the airport and discussedattempt to secure land for same. The Council agreed with the committee that they proceed with plans to obtain option on land.
