HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-10-1962 Regular MeetingSTATE OF ALABAMA COUNTY OF BALDWIN The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session at the City Hall, Monday; -.Sept. 10, 1962 at 7:30 P.M. with the follow- ing members present; Mayor Schneider, Councilmen Boone- Gaston, Schermer: absent Councilmen Nelson and Poser. Motion by Councilman Gaston seconded by Councilman Boone that Eloise T. Wilson be appointed temporary City Clerk in the absence of said City Clerk. Minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved as read. Claude Arnold reported on approximate cost of access streets to colored section, specifically Mershon street from Nichols to Fa - land Avenue and extension of Fairland Avenue from Section to Street. Following discussion it was decided to table action untl:.I_ the next meeting. I IN Motion by Councilman Schermer seconded by Councilman Boone that the following Ordinance be introduced and read to the meeting; ORDINANCE NO. _� � ?- Upon recommendation of the City of Fairhope's fiscal agents and due to three increases in price of bulk gas to City of Fairhope, also due to the additional expense involved in service to customers beyond city limits, and because of certain requirements of the 1961 Bond Indentures, Water, Sewer and Gas; BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Fairhope that the gas rates for the consumers of gas outside the city limits of the City be increased to the following: First 300 Cu. Ft. $ 1.50 Minimum Next 1,000 Cu. Ft. 0.165 per 100 C.F. Next 1,700 Cu. Ft. 0.14J per 100 C.F. Next 17,000 Cu. Ft. 0.08 per 100 C.F. Next 30,000 Cu. Ft. 0.07 per 100. C.F. All" -Over 0.065 per 100 C.F. Voting Aye:. Mayor Schneider, Councilmen Boone, Gaston ,Schermer, Voting May: None. Letter from Dr. Bruce Nelson, Baldwin County Health Dept. was read in which request was made for increase in City of Fairhope's ap- propriation to County Health Dept. Motion by Councilman k6feWthat the Mayor be authorized to increase payment to County Health Dept. to an amount equal to appropriateion of coQmparable size town not to exceed $75.00, seconded by Councilman(669ri&. Motion carried unanimously with Mayor voting also. Action do Codification Ordinance postponed until all members of Council are present. Motion by Councilman Boone seconded by Councilman Schermer that Section 5 of Ordinance limiting and. regulating the use of City supplied water by air conditioning systems be amended to read as follows: "Section 5 Compliance Date. Allsystems installed prior to the effective date of this Ordinance and in non -conformity here- with shall be converted, modified, adjusted or otherwise made to comply within six months from date" and Ordinance be re- introduced.as amended. Motion carried unanimously. Letter from Robert B. Walker concerning sewer service to his home was turned over to George Dyson with instructions to report back to Council at next meeting. 01 Mr. Rickarby reported that Ordinance on AdValorem tax in newly annexed territory will be ready for the next Council meeting. Motion by Councilman Boone, seconded by Councilman Gaston that Mr. George Dyson, General Supt., be authorized to employ Raymond Wood, to make necessary alterations -on electrical switches located in fire house, to water pumps. Motion carried unanimously. Letter from Autry Greer & Sons concerning refuse problem at their local store was read and discussed. Business Administrator Byrne was instructed to write Capt. Machlan in regards to National Guard Armory. Councilman Boone exhibited a chart showing status of bay con- tamination. Business Administrator Byrne was instructed to write the Baldwin County Health Dept. for results of next and all future tests of bay water, such findings to be charted by Mr. Boone.
