The, C i'ty Counc i I of the City of Fa i rhope melt in regular session at the
City Hall, Monday„ August 27,.1962 at 7:30 P.M. with the following
members present: Mayor Schneider, Councilmen: Boone, Poser and Schermer.
C ounc i I man Ne I son) arrived at 9: 00 P.M. C ounc i I man Gastom being absent.
The minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and corrected to
read as follows.: The Council agreed to proceed with planning for City
Garage instead of the Council agreed to proceed with plans for City Garage.
Motion bF Councilman Boone seconded by Councilman Schermer that the:
minutes be approved as corrected. Motion carried.
Mr. Cecil Pitman requested the City to extend sewer line on Kirkman Lane.
After a general discussion the request was rejected. Mr. Pitman further
requested that the City include Kirkman Lane in present paving venture.
The -Council agreed to consider this request in the next paving venture
but could not include it at present.
Mr. Raymond L. Howe requested the City to open Blue Island Avenue approxr
imately 600 ft. The --Council agreed that if the property owners would clear
the street at their expense the City would do� the grading.
Dr. Gaston and Mr. Sam Dyson,met with the Council pertaining to improvements
on Bancroft Street. The Colony felt that the bids were excessive for
improvements at this time but they would cooperate with the City on a modified
plan for improvements. Mayor Schneider appointed Councilman Boone, Mr. Sam
Dyson and Mr. George Dyson as a ccmmittee to present modified plan to the
City Council.
Motion by Councilman Poser seconded by Councilman Boone that the following
Ordinance-, be introduced and read to the, meeting.

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the -City of Fairhope: that
the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute copy of contract
with the UNITED STATES STEEL CORFORATION, granting to the CITY OF FAIRHOPE
the right to construct, operate and maintain a gas transmission pipe line
over,, upon and across five (j) parce l s. of land in Township 4 South, Range 3 :
East of the St. Stephens Principal ;Meridian, Baldwin County, Alabama.
Ordinances on AdValorem tax on newly annexed area and Air conditioner- waste
water were postponed until the next regular meeting of the. City Council.
Councilman Boone?introduced the -following O rd i nance� which was seconded by
Councilman Poser and read to the meeting.

Motion by Councilman Boone seconded. by Councilman Schermer that Moore
Engineering Company be authorized to instruct H. 0. Weaver, Contractor,
to include resurfacing Orange Street from Sat sumac to Mobile Avenue in
the present paving venture. ',Action carried.
Johnson Street sidewalk was referred to Councilman Boone forrurther study.
Councilman Schermer presented proposed gas rate increase, for outlying areas.
