C i ty Counc i I of the C i ty of Fa i rhope met in unad journed regular session at the City Hall, Friday„ July 27, 1962 at 2:00 P.M. with the following members present: Mayor Schneider, Councilmen: Boone, Gaston, Nelson and Poser. Councilman Schermer being.absent. This being date set for opening of bids on approximately 6,000 feet of sewer on Young and Nichols Street,, the following bids were rece i ved and: read to the C ounc i I by Mr. Dona l d M i I I s,. Fla. 33-321.40 Campbe.11 Construction Engrs., Mobile 35.,458:90 Noonan' s, Fensaco l a, F 1, a:. 30,799.00 Motion by Councilman Gaston seconded by Councilman Nelson that contract be., awarded, to Fairhope Paving Company, low bidder, at a cost of $24,45,4.710. Upon being put to vote the following vote was recorded:. For: Councilmen Gaston, Nelson, Poser. Against: None. Councilman Boone not voting and Councilman Schermer being;absen t. Motion carried. Councilman Nelson introduced the.following Ordinance which was read, to the -meeting: "I,—ORD ORDINANCE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE C ITY COUNC IL OF THE C ITY OF FAIRHOPE that the property in front of the Elks Lodge on Mobile Avenue in the City is not needed for public or municipal purposes and that the City is authorized to deed it to the Fairhopp Elks Lodge in exchange for so much of the, Elks property on the east•side of Mobile Avenue as is necessary to straighten the curve in Mobile Avenue and that the Mayor be authorized, to arrange for this exchange and execute a. deed for the City of Fairhope, but that the City property be deeded with such restrictions so that should it be sold either directly or indirectly, the City will have the first opportunity to purchase,said property for the value of the i,neumbrances thereon C ouncilman Nelson moved that all• ru les. govern i ng, the council which might, unless suspended, prevent the passage and adoption of the ordinance bt this meeting -,be and the same are hereby suspended. Councilman Poser seconded this motion, and upon being put to vote the following vote was. recorded: /Aacyox Voting For-:. Mayor Schneider, Councilmen Boone, Gaston, Nelson and Poser. Against: None. The Mayor declared themotion adopted by unanimous vote of the members present. Councilman Nelson then moved that the ordinance be finally passed and adopted as introduced. Councilman Poser seconded this motion.. The Mayor then ..put the question of final passage and adoption of said ordinance to vote of the council., and on roll call the rasults were as fol I o%4s: For: Mayor Schneider, Counci I men.. Boone, Gaston, Nelson and Poser., Against: None. The 10ayor them declared the Crd i ance f i na i l y passed and --dopted, Aotion by Councilman Nelson seconded by Councilman Gaston that the ',%ayor and Business Administrator be authorized to sign agreement with Grand Hotel Development Corporation for gas line to Unit J2, Lakewood Club Estates.
