The City Council of the C i;ty of F a i rhope met in regular session at the
City Hall, Monday, Ju I y. 9, 1:962 at 7: 30 P.M. with the following members
present: Mayor Schneider, Councilmen: Boone, Easton, Nelson, Poser and
Schermer.
The minutes of the prewi ous regular meeting, were read and approved'.
The following bids were received on ditch digger and read to the meeting:.

Motion by C ounc i Lrhan Poser seconded by Councilman Nelson that due to the
variation of equipment andbid prices that the bids be accepted and analyzed
by the City Superintendent, Mayor, Business Administrator and two councilmen
chosen by the Mayor. Action to be taken at the next regular meeting of the
City Council. Motion carried.

Motion by Councilman Poser seconded by Councilman Gaston that the bids be
accepted, andthe property owners affected be advised. of cost of these
imprrovements& Action to be taken at the next regular meeting;of the Council..

Due to the high cost of this improvement the Council requested that a letter
be written to Barber Da.i ry Company requesting that they notify the City as to
their future plans,
Mrs. O'Gwynn, Mr. Pitman and Mr. Green, met with the Counc i I pertaining, to
paving Ingleside Extension. Motion by Councilman Schermer seconded by
Councilman Poser that the Mayor be authorized to proceed with negotiating
contract for paving Ingleside Extension when all legal requirements have
been met. Motion carried.
A request to open and pave an additional artery on the school campus south
of the high shool entering from Section Street was presobnted.

/ the grading and drainage on school property be completed by the. -County
VVV Commissioners. i f possible, if not, by the C i ty' s own expenditure, not to exceed
3,000.00
Motion by Councilman Poser seconded by Councilman .5chermer that the motion be
tabled. until a further study is made and check made with the County commissioners
and action postponed.until next meeting of the Council. Upon being put to vote
the following vote was recorded: For: Councilmen Poser and Schermer. Against:.
C ounc i I men Boone,, Gaston and Nelson. Mot i 6n defeated. The Mayor then called
for a vote on Councilman Nelson's motion with the following result:,For:.

Motion, by C ounc i I man Ne I son seconded by C ouhc i I man Boone that the City
Clerk be authorized to transfer $20,000.00 from Gas'Surplus Account to
the General Fund. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Gaston seconded by Councilman Poser that the following
Resolution be adopted. Motion carried.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE C ITY COUNC I L OF THE C ITY OF FA IRHOPE that the money
returned by the Merchants National Bank that remained in the Cushion Fund of
the 1970 Gas Revenue. Bond° issue. in the amounts of $31 1.78, 81,.50 and $ 1,025.31
be placed in the 1962 Street Construction Fund in the Bank of Fairhope...
The Council agreed: to install a stop and go traffic light on Fairhope Avenue>
and Greeno and a: four way stop and caution light at Greeno and Morphy Avenue.
The Alabama State Highway Department has concurred with above traffic signal
installations.
The following motion of the Fairhope Planning and Zoning Commission was read
to the meeting. ,
Motion by Mr. Nelson seconded by Mr. Frederick. that the Fairhope Planning
and Zoning Commission recom-iend to the City Council that all garbage and rubbish
collected by the City be used for fills for soil conservation in method similar
to that used on Elementary School grounds.
Lakewood Subdivision, Point Clear, requested an extension of 4000 feet of 2
inch aas.l.ine for future development. Action to be taken at later date upon
completion of written agreement.
