The City Council of the City cf F airhope met in regular session at the
C i ty Ha L•I , Monday, June 1 I, 1962 at 7:30 P.M. wi th the: fo I I ow ing members
present: Mayor-Schneider,.Councilmen: Boone,,Gaston, Nelson and:Schermer.
Councilman Poser being absent.
The minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved as read.
C i ty Attorney R ickarby. rgportedthat the study on Holmberg gas l i ne was
incomplete. Held. for further study.
After a,general discussion on the proposed subdivision of property known as
Montoe Smith property, Councilman Nelson moved that it be tabled for further
study which was seconded by Councilman Schermer and carried.
Motion by Councilman Nelson seconded by Councilman Boone that the following
Resol.ut ion i ntroduced at the regul ar meet ng of. May 14,. 1,962 be approved as
introduced. Motion carried.
BE IiTRESOLVED that the City turn thehlunicipaI By I c rog,r�a, over to
the Zon,i ng and Planning Beard. for recommendat i cns as, to the—necessar-y
public buildings needed, sites and a priority as to how they are to be built.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT not more than $2,000.00 be authorized for
this study.
Motion by Councilman Boone seconded by councilman Nelson that the following
Resolution introduced at the regular meeting of May 28, 1962 be approved as

Upon being petitioned by the following young people: Dana Patrick,
Mike Arnold,. Richard Horne,, Susan Blatchford, Gus. Boone, Fred Blosser,
La4,:rence Thomas, Whitney Cadwell, Susan Sheldon, Marshall Bishop, Betty Hay,
Alan Hoffinan and Barry Gaston, I-t Is Hereby Resolved that the C i ty Counci I
favors the formation of a Youth Cou.nci I provided that the Youth fiorming this
Council realize that the succe s of this project rests with them.
motion by Counci I man Gaston secord ed by Councilman Boone that Moore Engineering
/Company be authrozied to prepare plans for sidewalk and curb and gutter on
�/ the., north side of Johnson Street between Section Street and Bancroft Street.
Motion carried..
Moore Engineering Company was authorized to advertise for bids on Bancroft Street
based on their plans for a 60 t street and for a 52* street.
�Ao,ion by Councilman Nelson seconded by Councilman Boone that the City appropriate
$210.48 to the Fai rhoper Volunteer Fire, Department. Motion carried.
Motion by Council Schermer seconded by Councilman Boone that the following,
Reso I;ut ion be adopted!. Motion carried.
WHEREAS, Arthur F. Stenzel departed this life on the 27th day of May,
1962; and,
WHEREAS, Arthur F. Stenzel was currently serving as C ivi l Defense Director for
the C i ty of F'a i rhope; and,
WHEREAS, Arthur F. Stenzel served in this position, untiringly, efficienti.y,
effectively, unselfishly and honorably, sparing not his time nor talent;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this City Council deeply regret his
untimely death and the resultant loss of his service to the public;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be published i,n
