Poser and Schermer. The: minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved as read.. Motion by Councilman Poser seconded by Councilman Boone that the City accept low b i d:.of H. 0. Weaver Construction C ampany for Street Improvement project as provided by Ordinance #,284 as amended and adopted and that the Mayors -and C i ty C I,erk, be authorized to sign .contract with Weaver- C onstruct i on Company. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Poser seconded by Councilman Nelson that the Mayor and City I erk be authorized to execute contract with Byrd L. Moore Engineering Company for supervision and: inspection on Street Improvement as provided by Ordinance 71284 as amended and adopted. Motion carried. Action on.the Pier contract was tabled until the next regular meeting of the City Counc i I . Motion by Counc i I man Poser seconded by Counc i Iman Gaston that the C i ty accept low bid of, $265,926.00 submitted by C_. E. W'. Construction Company of Fayetville, Tenn. for construction of gas line as originally set out in bid proposal and. that the Mayor and C i ty C I erk be authori zed to execute contract vri th C-•. . L� l: Construction Company. Motion carried. Mot ion by Counc i Iman Nei son seconded by Counc i Iman Gaston that. the C i ty appropriate $75.0.00 to the Volunteer F ire Department to send: f ive f i remen to fire school at the University from April 8through April 13. Motion carried. Mot i on by (I ounc i I man Nei son seconded by C ounc i I man Boone that the C i t.y advert i se for bids on new police car as per specifications. Upon Being put to vote the following vote was recorded: For: Counc i I menr Boone, Gaston, Nelson and Poser. Against-. Councilman Schermer. Motion carried. Mot i on by Counc i I man Poser sec onded by Counc i Iman Ne l son —that the Fa i rhope: Casino be issued: a dance. hall I i cense for downstairs only: Mof i on carried. Motion by Councilman Schermer seconded by C ounc i I scan Poser that the Mayor and Business Administrator arrange for meeting of a committee: appointed by the C i ty Counc i I wi th representa.t1ve of R iviera Ut i I i t ies C ompany of Foley, Ala`. to discuss the purchase by the City of Fairhope. of that part of electric systgm presently owned by R i v i erk U t i I i t i es that I i es within the C i ty Limits of Fairhope. Motion carried. A petition from Residents of Grand Avenue was to rned, over to the: C i ty Super— intendent. A letter from Hugo Marx and. Co.,,City Fiscal Agents, outlining his recommen— dat i ors: on signing a. new service agreement with United Gas Pipe Line C anpan� was read�to the Council. No action taken at this time. Councilman Schermer to discuss, further with Mr. Marx. Correspondence from Federal Power Commission relative to a proposed! refund of excess charges to the City of F a i rhope: in the principal amount of $ 33,977 by the Un i ted Gas. P i pe L i ne.
