I. Boone, J. E. Gaston, Jr., W. J. Nelson, W. 0. Poser and A.E. Schermer. The minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved as read. Claude Arnolid presented Street Improvement plans for approval. The Mayor appointed C ouncilman Boone and C ouncilman Poser to act in capacity of City Engineer on approval of plans. Mayor Schneider appointed Councilmen Schermer, Boone and Poser as a committee to work out a rate to be charged for utilities consisting of water, sewer and garbage for consumers outside the City Limits. George Stejskal and Robert Green met with the Council pertaining to street improvement. Councilman Boone reported on resurfacing paved streets in the City. Motion by Councilman Boone seconded by Councilman Poser that Mr. Donald Mills be employed as Engineer -to make necessary studies, investigations and preliminary surveys of proposed improvements since the City of Fairhope was obligated on past work in regard to gas line to City known as loop line. Mr. MiIIs fee to - be $100.00. I,t is further understood that Mr. MiIIs.wi1I1 be the Engineer at the time this work is done at a fee of 5%. of cost of construct— ion less $100.00 preliminary payment. Motion carried. Motion by C ouncilman Schermer seconded by C ouncilman Gaston that the following Resolution be adopted. Motion carried. WHEREAS, there is on deposit in the Surplus Fund of the Natural Gas System of the City sufficient .funds to redeem prior to maturity $4,000.00 principal amount of Natural Gas Rovenue 3 3/41/. Bonds, and INHF_REAS, it is necessary for bondholders t-o be notified not less than thirty days prior to the redemption date, NOVI THERERORE BE IT RESOLVED: 1. That the City hereby elects to -redeem from Surplus Revenues on hand Bonds Nos. 515/518 inclusive maturing February 1, 197�, at par plus accrued interest -plus a premium of one years interest. 2. That the,trustee is hereby instructed to pay such bonds when presented with funds out of the Surplus Fund of the Natural Gas. System. 3. That'Natkins, ,Morrow and Company be authorized to negotiate with the bondholders in an attempt to save the cost of publishing a notice of redemption but that if such notice must be published, that said Watkins, Morrow and Co. be and is hereby authorized to publish an appropriate notice of redemption In. accordance with the terms of the authorizing ordinance. Motion by Councilman Schermer seconded by Councilman Poser that the Clerk be authorized: to issued .�17,000.00 warrants payable to the General Obligation Sewer Bond and Interest account as authorized by previous Council. "Motion carried. Mot! n by Counciiman Nelson seconded by Councilman Schermer that the City accept -low bid of General Electric C oTpany for radio equipment. Motion carried. The Mayor appointed Councilman Gaston,ai,d Counci Han Nelson and Chief Clemens along with the City Attorney to draw up Dog Ordinance for the City. Motion by Councilman Schermer seconded by Councilman Nelson that the application of Archie -Green for building permit be approved as submitted. Motion carried. Councilman Schermer introduced the following Ordinance which was: seconded by Councilman Poser and read to the meting. ORDINANCE 7# 272 MUNICIPAL FUNDS BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the �-ity of Fairhope that in pursuance of Section: L48, Ti tle 37, 1958 Code: of Alabama, recompi led, the City Counc i 1 requires that interest be paid and security be given on public moneys of the City of Fairhope depositedin banks. , In the event that the deposits in any one bank are adequately covered by the insurance: or security of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, no separate surety agreement shall be required:.
