County of Baldwin
The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session at the City
Hall., Monday, November 14, 1960 with the following members present; Mayor
Joe Schneider, C ouncilmenr Boone, Gaston, Nelson, Poser and Schermer.
The minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and corrected to read
that bids on.garbage pick-up contract be opened on November 25, 1960 at
4:30 P.M. Minutes approved as corrected.
A report and letter from the committee appointed to meet with Mr. Pitman was
presented. Motion by Councilman Gaston seconded by Councilman Nelson that
the Council accept report of committee and approve letter as written and that
check for payment of sewer installation be ,returned to Mr. Pitman. Motion
carried:.
Motion by Councilman Poser seconded by Councilman Gaston that Clovis and Webb
Denton be allowed tax refund in the amount of $127.20 paid in error, as
rrecom_ mended by the Oty, Attorney,. Motion carried. J
Motion by Counc i Iman Boone seconded: by Counci Iman Poser that' Eugene Bosby be
paid an addition+l 25.00 a week for garbage pick-up effective this date.
Motion carried'.
Mr. C . K. Zeh.ner requested the C i ty to increase payment to the Baldwin County
Mehl.th Department from 055.00. to $?5;.00 per month. Motion by Counc 1 Iman
Schermer that the request be t aken under adv i sement. Vot i ng Yes: C ounc i I man
Schermer; Voting No. Councilmen Boone, Gaston and Poser. Councilman Nelson
not voting. Discussion followed but no action taken.
Motion by Councilman Nelson seconded by Councilman Poser that the City Attorney
be instructed to prepare lease agreement for immediate execution for potion
of land owned by Mrs. Georganna I vices now being used as a part of one of the
City Parks. Lease to be renewed annually at an annual rental of $1.00. Motion
carried.
Motion by Councilman Poser seconded by Councilman Gaston that the application
of Herbert Williams for beer permit at Maggie's and Herbert's Tea Room on
Twin Beach Road be approved.. Motion carried.
Two bids were received: on prisoner's mea.l_s: and read to the Council. Motion
by Councilman Nelson seconded by Councilman Schermer that both bids be accepted,
each to service for a three :mont'h_peripd alternately between And.rewls and
Olivere beginning with ndrewt-- Restaurant. Motion carFied

Both bids were rejected and the Council requested new bids for the meeting of
November 28, 1960.
Motion by Councilman Poser seconded by Councilman Boone that the following
Resolution be adopted: Motion carried.
BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Fairhope purchase a parcel of land from /
Arthur Mannich and Betty Mannich in accordance --with the contract, copy of ✓
which is attached. hereto.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is .hereby authorized to make
payment in accordance with said contract when attorney reports good title.
Motion by Councilman Poser seconded by Councilman Boone that the following
Resolution be adopted. Motion carried.
BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council, City of Fairhope, will entertain
requests from the property owners residing in the city limits of the City of
Fairhope for sewer and street improvements to be done on an assessment basis.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council wi I I consider sktd requests •,�
when advisfable and feasible.
