Motion by Councilman Ruffigsseconded by Council Shull, that, Eloise T. Wilson be appointed acting clerk in the absence of Marie Moore, clerk.. Motion carried. Motion by C ouncilman Shull, seconded by C ouncilman Belew, that the minutes be approved as. read. Motion carried. Nomination by Councilman Shull, seconded by CouncilmanPoser, of Mr. R. W. Wilder to fill the unexpired term of Mr. H.A.Peters, Jr, on the Zoning Adjustment Board. Motion by Councilman Ruffles, seconded by Councilman Belew, that the nominations be closed. Motion carried. Mr. R. W. Wi+der was unanimously appointed to fill the unexpired term of H.A. Peters, Jr. on the Zoning Adjustment Board. Moti^n by Councilman Berglin, seconded by Councilman Belew that fir. T. A. Cotten be reappointed to a six year term, retroactive to March 1959, on the Recreation Board. Motion carried unanimously. A letter dated Sept. 22, 1959 from Van Antwerp and Rector, attorneys for Mr. W. F. Hawie, concerning the condemnation of the. airhope Casino was read. Copy of a letter dated Sept. 8, 1959, from Mr. J. V. Kitchens, State Fire Mar- shall, to Mr. W. F. Hawie, also was read. The ayor was authorized to send copy of Mr. Kitchens' letter to Van Antwerp and Rector. Motion by Councilman Belew, seconded by councilman Poser, that the application of Walter Roberts for building permit be approved as submitted. Motion carried. Letter from the Fairhope Elementary and Junior High School P-T A. requesting the installation of traffic lights at the corners of Church Street and Fels Avenue, and at rairhope Avenue and Summit Street was read and discussed. No action taken. Police Chief D. C. Johnson requested consideration of a bicycle ordinance. No action taken Motor scooter and automobile muffler noises were discussed and referred to the Chief of Police, n Letter from Byrd L. Moore III requesting that drainage control measures be taken by his property on North Church Street eas read and referred to the Ffairhope Single Tax Corporation. Letter from John Hadley, chairman of the County Road Commission, in which he stated that ttlxadit the State would construct one mile of streets within the City limits, on condition that t'he City gift shall grade, drain and place the base course, was read. Motion by Councilman Shull, seconded by Councilman Belew, that the City accept the one mile of street construction placing same on Nichols Street from School Street to Greeno Boulevard and on Yound Street from Nichols Street to the South City limits. Motion carried unanimously. The contract with Lake Forest Subdivision was discussed. Motion by Councilman Shull, seconded by Councilman Ruffles, that the following bills be approved for payment.
