The 1wity Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session at the City
Hall, Monday, August24, t959 with the following members present: Mayor
Overton, Councilmen: Belew, Berglin, Poser, Ruffles and Shull.
Motion by councilman Shull seconded by Councilman Belew that the minutes of
the previous meeting be approved as read. Motion carried.
Mr. Louis C. Wiggins of 454 Liberty Street met with the Council to protest the
method of the Contractor in fixing parkway in front of his property.
A letter from the Chamber of Commerce requesting the City to donate electricity
to their office was read and discussed. Motion by Councilman Ruffles seconded
by Councilman Belew that the City donate Electricity to the Chamber of
Commerce subject to the approval of the:=City Attorney. Motion carried.
The following names were submitted for consideration by the Council for
appointment to the Adjustment Board and held for next meeting of the Council;
R. W. Wilder, Dick Teamer and Dale Radcliffe.
A letter from Victory Electric Company quoting prices to rewind the 2 Stators on
two Fairbanks MOrse QMerators was read and filed for future reference.
Mr. James B. Ward met with the Councilin regards to operating a Radion,& TV
repair shop at his. residence. Referred to the Zoning Board.
Minutes of the Planning Board meeting were read to the Council.
Councilman Belew introduced the following Ordinance which was read to the
meeting.

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SEC TI'N 13 OF ZONING ORDINANCE # 231 DULY ADOPTED
ON THE IIthDAY OF OCTOBER, 1954.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE, ALABAMA
AS FOLLOWSt

Councilman Poser moved that the rules be suspended and unanimous consent
be given for immediate consideration of and' action on said Ordinances which
motion was seconded by Councilman Berglin and upon being put to vote the
following vote was recorded: Voting For: Mayor Overton, Councilment Belew.
Berglin, Poster, Ruffles and Shull. Against: None. The Mayor thereupon
declared that the motion forunanimous consent for immediate consideration of
and action on said Ordinance had been unanimously carried. Councilman
Shull thereupon moved that the said Ordinance be finally adopted which
motion was seconded by Councilman Ruffles and upon said motion being put to
vote the following vote was recordedt Voting For: Mayor Overton, Councilmen:
Belem, Berglin, Poser, Ruffles and Shull. Against: Nonea The Mayor then
announced that the motion for adoption of said Ordinance had been unanimously
carried and signed the same in approval thereof.
A letter from resident s of the neighborhood surrounding Stimpson Field
protesting commercial enterprises in areawas read and discussed. The Police
department was instructed to notify the operator to cut down on the music.
Tentative contract with Lake Forest was presented to the Council for study
and action at a future date.

Councilman Ruffles reported on a survey of the Eastern Shore Area made
by the Telephone C ompaAy.
Councilman Poser requested that the City Attorney dram up an ordinance
giving the Police department the authority to pick up boys loitering
around the streets lame at night and early morning.
Councilman Belem requested an Ordinance pertaining to the cleaning of
vacant lots in the City.
Motion by Councilman Berglin seconded by Councilman Poser that the meeting
adjourn. Motion carried.
