HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-27-1959 Regular MeetingSTATE OF ALABAMA County of Baldwin The Gi ty Counc i I of the C i ty of Fa i rhope met in regular sessi on at the City Hall, Monday, July 27, 1959 with the following members presents Mayor E. B. Overton, Councilmen: Belew, Berglin, Poser,, Ruffles and Shull. The minutes of the previous regular meeting were .read and on motion by Councilman Berglin seconded by Councilman Shull were approved as read. Mr. Raymond Dominey presented a quarterly financial report of the General Fund to the Counc i I. Motion by Councilman Belew seconded by Councilman Poser that the City accept low bid of 11,257.0.0 6f Klumpp Motor Company for a 3/4 ton Pick -Up truck for the Gas Department. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Shull seconded by Councilman Berglin that the re- quest of Mrs. Minerva Klumpp to build patio on Atkinson Lane be approved. Motion carried. A letter from the Commissioner of Revenue requesting the City to nominate one person for consideration in the selection of a County Board of Equal- ization was read and held for the next regular meeting. Motion by Councilman Poser seconded by Councilman Belew that the Chief of Police attend the A 1 abama; Po I i ce Academy,'at Montgomery for a pear i od of three weeks, the City to pay up to 4100.00 on expenses. Motion carried. 'Minutes of the Planning Board' meeting of July 24, 1959 were read to the- C ounc i 1. C ounciimar,,Ruffles introduced the following Ordinance which was seconded by Councilman Shull' and read -to the meeting. ORDI NANCE' # � � Z AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 13 OF ZONING ORDINANCE # 231 dily ADOPTED ON THE II'th DAY OF OC TOBER, 1954. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE C ITY COUNC IL OF THE C ITY OF FAIRHOPE, ALABAMA AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 13, DISTRICT BOUNDARIES. East 98 feet of West 198 feet of North 132 feet of- Block 14, D1vts1on, 4, South sidit of Pine Street be trezoned from an R-2 to 8=2area,. t Councilman Belew moved that the rules be suspended and unanimous consent be given for immediate consideration of and action on said Ordinance, which motion was seconded by Councilman Ruffles and upon being put to vote the following vote was recorded: Voting For: Mayor Overton, Council- men:$elewi, Berglin, Poser, Ruffles and Shull. Voting Against: None. The Mayor thereupon declared that the motion for unanimous consent for immediate consideration of and action on said Ordinance had been unanimously carried. Councilman Shull thereupon moved that the said Ordinance be finally adopted, which motion was seconded by Councilman Berglin and upon said motion being put to vote the following vote was recorded: Voting For: Mayor Overton, Councilmen: Belew, Berglin, Poser, Ruffles and Shull. Voting Againsts None. The Mayor then announced that the motion for adoption of said Ordinance had been unanimously carried and signedthe same in approval thereof Mr. Fred Wood and Mr. Harry J'ohnsto n reported to the Council on Low Rent Housing projects and preliminary steps.to be taken to secure this project. The consensus of opinion of the City Council was that the City did not owe this bill. No definite action taken. Councilman Ruffles gave a report on the meeting of Mr. Vivian Johnston, Mr, G. Burton, Mr. W. C. Beebe, Mr. George Dyson and Councilman Ruffles pertain- ing to Lake Forest utilities. Motion by -Councilman Rufflesseconded by Councilman Belew► that Mr. Beebe be instructed to draw up tentative contract with Mr. Burton around the points discussed. Motion carried. Councilman Belew reported to the Council that the Chief of Police took, two witnesses to Montgomery on his off day as a favor to Mr. Belew, in his car at his expense and_ in no official capacity whatsoever, Motion by Councilman Belew seconded by Councilman Berglin that the Mayor be authorized and directed to write letters to Mr. M. J. Maston and.Mr. Calvin Hansen as supplement to easements on S,.a Cliff. Motion carried. Motion by (Founcil.man Berglin seconded by Councilman Belew that the meet- ing adjourn. Motion carried.
