In answer to the question, "Does the disability of a veteran have to be service connected to entitle him to a license exemption under Title 51, Section 852, Code of Alabama 1940, as amended?" I submit the following: On June 30, 1948, in an opinion to Honorable C. C. Horton of the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Attorney General ruled that a veteran who is disabled to the extent of 25% or more at the time of making application for license is entitled to the exemption provided for by Section 852,above; and that to qualify for the exemption, the statutory provision does not require that the disability be service connected. This opinion is found in Volume 51, Quarterly Reports of the Attorney General, page 256. I certainly hope that I shall have the opportunity to visit your part of the State for a vacation sometime this summer; and if I do, I will certainly make it a point to visit you.
