HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-08-1959 Regular MeetingSTATE OF ALABAMA COUNTY OF BALDWIN The Gity Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session at the City Hall, Monday, June 8", 1959 with the following members present: Mayor Overton, City Manager C. B. Niemeyer, Councilmen: Below, Berglin, Poser, Ruffles and Shull. Motion by Councilman Below seconded by Councilman Berglin that the minutes of the previous meeting be approved as read. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Shull seconded by Councilman Belew that Ordinance No. 260 be adopted as introduced at the regular meeting of the City Council on May 25, 1959. Upon being put to vote the following vote was recordeds Voting Yes: Mayor Overton, Councilmen: Below, Berglin, Foser, Ruffles and Shull. Voting No: None. The Mayor thereupon declared the Ordinance duly adopted'. ORDINANCE # 260 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE, AS FOLLOWS& Section I: It shall be unlawful for any person in the City of Fairhope to carry concealed about his person a bowie knife, a knife fitted with a mechanical device for automatic release of the blade or locking of the blade in an open position, any knife of whatever nature containing a blade more than three inches long, or any other knife or ins.trument,of like kind or description, or any air gun, slingshot, brass knuckles, straight edge razors or any other deadly or dangerous weapon. Sectirn 2& Any person convicted of violating this ordinance shall be fined not less than #1.00 or more than #100,00 and may be sentenced to imprisonment or hard labor for the City of Fairhope, either or both, for not more than 90 days. Adopted this the 8th day of June, 1959. Attest: City C ark Mayor Motion by Councilman Below seconded by Councilman Berglin that Percy Dale be granted Liquor Permit at the Community Social Club on Young Street subject to the approval of the 8 C Board. Motion carried. Bids were received on two new police cars. Mayor Overton appointed Council— man Ruffles to check on means of financing cars and Councilmen Belew and Poser to check the bids received. Motion by Councilman Ruffles seconded by Councilman Shull that the City purchase up to twso new police cars subject to reports of the committees appointed. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Berglin seconded by Councilman Shull that the City pay #tOO.00 on e)ip enses of City Manager to attend City Monagerts convention in St. Louis, October 25-29, Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Ruffles seconded by Councilman Below that the following resolution be adopted: Motion carried. WHEREAS, there is on deposit in the Surplus Fund of the Natural Gas System of the City sufficient funds to redeem prior to maturity $21,000,00 principal amount of Natural Gas Revenue 3 3/% Bonds, and 11' ' M WHEREAS, it is,necessary for bondholders to be notified not less than 30 days prior to the redemption date: NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLvEDs c 1. That the City hereby elects to redeem from Surplus Revenues on hand Bonds Nos. 563/564 inclusive maturing February 1. 1975 and Bonds Nos. 565A83 ,incl-usive piaturing February 1, 1976, at per plus accrued interest plus e premium of one year's interest, 2. That the trustee be and is hereby instructed to pay such bonds when presented with funds out of the Surplus Fund of the Natural Gas System. 3, That Watkins, Morrow and Company be authorized to negotiate with the bondholders in an attempt to save the cost of publishing a notice of redemption but that if such notice must be published, that said Watkins, Morrow and Company#'be and is hereby authorized to publish an appropriate notice of redemption in accordance with the terms of the authorizing ord- inance, Motion by Councilman Ruffles seconded by Councilman•Gerglin that the follow- ing bills be approved for payment: Motion carried.
