HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-11-1959 Regular MeetingSTATE OF ALABAMA County of Baldwin The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session at the City Hall, Monday, May 11, 1959 with the following members present; Mayor E. B. Overton, City Man- ager C. B. Niemeyer, Councilmen: C. F. Belew, M. 0. Berglin, W. 0. Poser and B. L. Shull. Motion by Councilman Belew seconded by Councilman Berglin that the minutes of the previous regular meeting be approv- ed as read. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Poser seconded by Councilman Shull that the City pay the first month's premium on insurance to Alabama Life and Casualty Ins. Company of Birmingham, Ala. for city employees. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Poser seconded by Councilman Belew that the council hereby instruct the Engineer to proceed with paving of streets as planned leaving as many trees standing as is practical. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Berglin seconded by Councilman Belew that the application of E. B. Gaston Estate for building permit be approved. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Poser seconded by Councilman Shull that all dirt from Street Improvements in excess of what is actually needed to protect City property be used to fill in gulley behind the Jr. High School. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Belew seconded by Councilman Shull that the application of W. B. Scott to install steps at 111 Magnolia Avenue be approved. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Poser seconded by Councilman Berglin that the application for building permit of Otto Brown be approved as submitted. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Shull seconded by Councilman Berglin that the City rebuild fht 220 feet ref -the pier from the shoreline out, replacing all necessary piling and installing all new stringers, walers and decking. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Poser seconded by Councilman Belew that the City purchase one uniform each for the auxiliary police, not more than 15 uniforms at a cost of not more than $30.00 each. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Belew seconded by Councilman Berglin that the following bills be approved for payment: Motion carried;.
