At the last regularly scheduled meeting
of the Fairhope Ministerial Association on Tuesday, January 14th,
1958, clergymen representing the Baptist, Methodist, Christian,
Presbyterian and Episcopal Churches of this City attended and
discussed among many other things, the utility rates of Fairhope
as they apply to the Churches in this City.
This group voted unanimously to empower the
secretary to request that the Council re -study the rates charged
the various Churches, particularly the electrical rates, with the
hope that some adjustment might made which would lower our oper-
ating costs. Our Churches are in no sense commercial enterprises
and „ wefeel, should not be charged rates on the same basis as
business and industry.
We trust that some action may be taken which
will relieve this situation.
Sincerely, l
viilliam R. Hill, Secretary
Fairhope Ministerial Assn.
