The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in re;ular session
at the City Hall, T._onday, September 16, 1957, with the folloveing r
members present:Mayor Overton, Councilmen Belew, I-cDaniel, huffles,
Berglin , 3chull; Absent; City .tanager TIi emeyer, pity Clerk `Marie
Loore.
otioji by Councilman Berglin, seconded by Councilman L:cDaniel that
the minutes of the previous meeting be approved as read. Iiotion
carried.
Representatives of the Fig Street area and the Single Tax Colony
met with the Council in regards to the condition of Fig Street. It
was agreed that representatives from the City Council, Jangle Tax
Colony and residents of Fig Street would attend the County Commis-
sioners meeting in nay T.:inette, Thursday, Sept. 19, 1957.
Councilman Schull, chairman of the Annexation Committee re^d a ree
port and displayed a map t,,ith recommendations as to annexation of
three proposed areas. T`otion by Councilman Shull, seconded by Coun-
cilman Belew that the City tlanager be directec' to circularize all
property owners „nd voters of Area r'l ( Fig Street Area) as to
their wished concerning anne:-aticn. .oticn carried unanimously.
'ancil Patrick, owner of Baste�n Shore liotel, :.:obile Avenue
and Seminole Street offered to I+A drain pipe if City would install
same and supply fill dirt. OffFr accepted by t1layor and Council.
r. R. Chamberlain and Leo Keller appeared before the Council con-
cerning drainage problem on N. :-obi-le Avenue.
h. C. Davidson re-ucsteo permission to erect direction signs on
City property and was advised that orc_i.nance forbid scid erection.

building permit of Lee Parker be approved aq submitted.Y-otion carried

the following resolution be adopted:

trustee of interest to February 1, 1058 on First I:'ortga,?e Gas
Revenue bonds ii= 677/688 be and is ratified and confirmed.

Yotic n by Councilrrr n Luffles, seconder+ by Councilman Belew that
the property owners adjoining Fairwood Boulevard be permitted to
beautify the Boulevard p9rkway at no cost to the City and under
the supervision of the City 6tr•eet Department. I.-oti on carried un-
animously.
Upon report d)f -"ayor Overton of postponement of condemnation pro-
ceedings of cut -over from Gayfer Street to rairwocd Bouleva,rc ,
motion by Councilman Berglin, seconded by Councilman huffles,
that the City post 4a750.00 v.ith the -ourt and take possession of
the proposed street i'hile arl,itr.ation concerning t:,e fair value
continues. Potion carr=ed unanimously.

Lotion by Councilman McDaniel, Leconded by Councilman ruffles, that
C.L. Niemeyer be appointed City anager for the balance of the term
of the present Council. Voting Yea, Councilmen-uffles, Berglin,
LcDaniel and Nayor Overton; voting lay, Councilman Belew and Shull.
Motion carried.
Dotion by Councilman Berglin, secon ed by Councilman Belew, that
the following bills be approved for payment. Potion carried.

Councilman Ruffles submitted report of cost of hecreation Borrd
projects to date ,,,ith recommed�tions for financing future projects.
Lotion by Councilman Shull, seconded by Councilman Berglin that
report and recommendations for financing be accepted. Lotion
carried unanimously.
Electrical Supt. Kirk appeared before tre Council with a request
from the Fairhore Yacht Club for changes in their outdoor lighting
system anc v:ad instructed to :rake desired changes at actual cost.

the meeting adjourn. lotion carried unanimously.
