Be I ow, M. 0. Berglin, J. F. McDaniel, Wm. R. Ruffles, Jr. and B. L. Shull. The minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and corrected to reads "Councilman Below not voting" on Resolution that contract be let to Noonan Construction Company. Motion by Councilman McDaniel seconded by Councilman Berglin that the minutes,be approvedas corrected. Motion carried. Mr. Lipscomb, Principal of the High School, requested theC ouncil to pave the driveways to the north and south of the Jr. High School building. The City Manager, Street Superintendent and Councilman Shull were appoint- ed to meet with Mr. Lipscomb. Motion by Councilman Ruffles seconded by Councilman Berglin that the building permit of C. A•. Warren be approved as submitted. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman McDaniel seconded by Councilman Shull that the Council give the Police Department a vote of confidence. Motion carried. A, proposal from Southern Bell Telephone Company to install additional outdoor telephones in the City was presented to the Council. The City Manager and representative of Southern Bell to make survey and give report at next meeting of the Council. Motion by Councilman Below seconded by Councilman McDaniel that Mary A. Smith be granted permit to open fruit and vegetable stand on North Section Street as requested. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Shull seconded by Councilman McDaniel that one representative be sent to Police School in Montgomery for one week. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman McDaniel seconded by Councilman Below that old piling be removed from section of the bay,under direction of the City Manager. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Shull seconded by Councilman Berglin that a new motor be installed In Loader. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Belew seconded by Councilman McDaniel that R. Dominey make the annual audit subject to approval of Merchants National Bank, Trustee for Gas Revenue Bonds. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Berglin seconded by Councilman Belew that permission be granted to the Jr. Chamber of Commerce for Atoms for Peace Demonstra- tion on Section Street, August 17, 1957. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Ruffles seconded by Councilman Below that the follow- ing bills be approved for payments Motion carried.
