Mayor E, B. Overton, Cli ty Manager C.. B. Niemeyer, Counc i� linen: Charles F. Bet ew, J'ohn W'. Fleming, Johnnie F. M'cDanieI, Wi 1 I iam R. Ruff les ,fir., and Barney L. Shull. The mi6utes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved as read. A proposed gas line from Daphne to Fairhope regulat6r station discussed and helld for further study. Mrs. Malcolm and Mrs. Norton met with Fly Creel. The mayor appointed C. E. Gaston be granted permission to install: gas tanks under the sidewalk provided tanks will' be removed at no cost to the city if and when the City uses space for utilities or for any other purpose. Motiorm carried. Motion by Councilman McDan i el s seconded by Councilman Ruffles that Beer Permit be issued to Doc Tate for Chick's Desire with understanding that Lie-ense-will be revoked permanently if there are any complaints. Motion carried. A request from Jaycees to extend lease on beach for Skating Rink was held for report to Coumc i l on sanitary facilities. Request for building permit by Medrick Johnson was, referred to the Adjust- ment Board. Notion by Council man Fleming seconded by Councilman Shull that W. R. Todd be. granted permission to barricade sidewalk at Section and Delemare St. for approximately 60 days. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Shull seconded by Councilman Be I ew that the f of l ow- ing Ordimance be adopted. Motion carried. ORDINANCE NO. .2, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Fairhope: Section 1: That a census of the inhabitants residing within the corporate limits of the City of Fairhope be and is hereby author- ized, ordered, directed and required to be taken in the manner required by law. Such census, so far as practical, shall state the names, ages, sex and color of each person residing within the corporate limits of the City of Fairhope. Section 2: The Mayor of the City of Fairhope be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to appoint enumerators to take such census and shall report such appointment to this council for confirma- tion of such appointment. Section 3: Agi Woppearing to this council that Mayor Overton has apnointed enumerator and it appearing that o e finer 9r is sufficient to take such census, the appointment of rJ by the said mayor be and is hereby confirmed. The said enumerator shall forthwith proceed to take such census in the manner provided by law and this ordinance, after first taking and filing with the Clerk of the City of Fairhope the following oath: "I solemnly swear that I will honestly and conscientiously enumerate the inhabitants living within the town or city, or portion thereof allotted to me for enumeration." Ilayor and Town Council, Town of Fairhope, Ala. Gentlemen: It is necessary for us to install new gasoline tanks at our service station and this letter is a request for your permission to install them under the sidewalk on Section Street adjoining our property. These tanks, if permission is granted, will be installed in s such a manner as not to have any obstructions above the side- walk level that would interfere with any traffic using this sidewalk , and of course the sidewalk will be replaced and every- thing done in a neat and proper manner.
