r - STATE OF ALABAMA COUNTY OF BALDWIN The City Counc i I of the City of Fa i rhope met in regular session at the City Hall on Monday, October 22, 1956 with the following members present -- Mayor E.B. Overton City Manager, C.B. Niemeyer C ounc i I men t Chas. F. Be I ew John W.'. F l em i ng Johnnie F. MCDaniels Barney L. Shull ft. R. Ruffles, Jr. The minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved. Councilman Belew introduced the following Ordinance which was seconded by Councilman McDanielsr. ^OY'd i nance #238 An Ordinance amendii.ng Section 3 of Ordinance #132. Be it Ordained by the City Council of the City of Fairhope that Section 3 of Ordinance 132, adopted 1935 be and is hereby ammended to read - as fol l owsr Section 3s: There shall be a charge of $10.00 for each permit issued which sum shall cover the cost of inspection and suitable adapter. The charges for sewer shall be included in the bill for water services, and no person shall be permitted to pay for water or sewer charges without paying for both. Councilman Belew moved that the rules be suspended and unanimous con- sent be given for immediate consideration of and action on said Ordinance, which motion was seconded by Councilman MicDaniels and upon the motion being put to vote the following vote was recorded. Voting Yes, Mayor Overton, C ouncilmenr Chas. F. Belew, John W. Fleming, Johnnie F. McDaniels,Wm. R. Ruffles, Jr. and Barney L. Shull. Voting Nay, None.. The Mayor thereupon declared that the motion for unanimous consent for immediate consideration of and action on said Ordinance had been unanimously carried. Councilman Ruffles thereupon moved that the said Ordinance be finally adopted, which motion was seconded by Councilman M'cDaniels and upon said motion being put to vote the following vote was record- ed-- Yeas; Ma�6r ©vert6n, Councilmecjr Belew, Fleming, McDaniels, Ruffles and Shull. Ways, none. The Mayor then announced that the motion for adoption of said Ordinance had been unanimously carried and signed the same in approval thereof, This Ordinance shall be effective November I, 1956.• Done this the 22nd Day of October, 1956. Approvedz Mayor Attest:: City Clerk Mir. Frank J. Ouca, representing Dictograph Fire Alarm system met with the Council in regards'to installing system in City Fire Station. Motion by C ouncilman Shull seconded by Councilman Beliew that Mr. Duca be granted permission to install 10 light Dil ograph Fire Alarm System in the City Fire Station at no cost to the City or Fire Departments. Motion Carried. Motion by Councilman Shull seconded by Councilman Belew that the City extend 2y'' gas line approximately 350" South on U.S. Highway 98. Motion Carried. Motion by Councilman Be I leer seconded by Councilman Shull that the City install Electric main feeder line from Morphy to Northrup St. on East Ingleside at a cost of �631.00 to P.L. Wilson subdivision with the understanding that Mr. Wilson build six houses within a period of two years or pay the City the above amount less $105.00 per house. Motion Carried. Motion by Councilman Ruffles seconded by Councilman Fleming that drainage ditch on South and West side of Carrie Young property be cleaned and that Mir. Beebe be authorized draw up work easement covering above ditch. Motion Carried. Motion by Councilman Belew that the application of Lee Parker for liquor permit at the Pbrker House be approved provided Mr. Parker meets allr requirements of the A.B.C. Board and the City of Fa i rhope. Motion died for. lack of second. Motion by Councilman Belew that City take immediate steps to revoke liquor license at Dale's. Motion died for lack of second. The property owners on Fig St. from Mobile Ave. east to the City Limits presented a petition to the Council requesting that this portion of Fig Street be included in the next State and County allowance of paving. Held for future reference. Motion by C ouncilman McDanieIs seconded Ey Councilman Fleming that the Junior Chamber of Commerce be given permission to sponsor Skating Rink on beach for four months with no beach rental. Motion Carried. A request from Kiwanis Club to use football field for benefit game on November 6, was granted provided Club pay for cost of lights.. Motion by Councilman McDaniels seconded by Councilman Ruffles that application of J!.V. Harrison be approved as submitted. Motion Carried. Three bids were received and opened. Motion 6y. , C6urlc 1 I main Be I ew seconded by Councilman Shull that the City accept bid of Gaston Motor Co. for Ford V8 Pick -Up. Motion, Carried. Bids for purchase of Police Car will be opened at regular meeting of November 12. One bid for garbage collection and disposal was submitted to the Council. Motion by Councilman McDaniels seconded by Councilman Ruffles that City accept bid of Eugene Bosby as submitted for a one year period. Voting Yes --Councilmen Fleming, ftDaniels, Ruffles and Shull, Councilman Belew voting no. Motion Carried. Motion by Council man Belew seconded by Councilman Shull that the following salary adjustments be approved effective Novemberl, 1956. Motion Carried. Elec. Supt. 1450.00 per month. Lineman (A) 1.65 per hr. Lineman (B) 1.50 per hr. Groundmen--1.15 per hr. In addition to the above the linemen will be given automatic raises of $.05 per hour every six months until their salary has reached $1.85 per hour.
