STATE OF ALABAMA.
County of Baldwin
The City council of the Gity of Pairhope met in regular session at the Gity
Hall, Monday, September 10, 1956 with the following members present: Mayor
E. B. Overton, City Manager C. B. Niemeyer, Councilmen M. 0. Berglin, L. E.
Blatchford, R. H. Brown and J. D. Meson. Councilman Macon being absent.
The minutesof the previous regular meeting were read and approved as read.
Motion by Councilman Brown seconded by Councilman Mason that the City
approve the Jr. Chamber of Commerce 7 point program providied all action taken
has prior C ouncill approval. Motion carried.
A petition against leasing a portion of Park area in Magnolia Beach to the
Art Association signed by 77 residents of the area was presented to the Council.
Action heIld for legal opinion.
A letter from various clubs in Pairhope and the Eastern Shore requesting
the City to appoint a Park and Recreation Board as recommended by the Park
and Recreation Committee was read and discussed. Motion by Councilman Berglin
seconded by Councilman Brown that Mr. Beebe, City Attorney, be authorized
to investigate necessary steps for creating a Park and Recreation Board.
Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Brown seconded by Councilman Blatchford that the City
Manager be authorized to secure the services of Smith, Dukes and Buckalew
for the annual audit. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Berglin seconded by Councilman Mason that the application
of Marvin Commolander for sign be approved providing sign is in line with
Trailway sign. Motion carried.
A petition from property owners in Houstonville requesting that they be
Incorporated into the pity Limits was read and held for further study.
Motion by Councilman Berglin seconded by Counciman Brown that the City approve
substitute gutter and curb section to replace roll back mountable curbs
heretofore used, in new construction work in Magnolia Beach Street Improve—
ment as per Mr. Arnold's letter. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Berglin seconded by Councilman Brown that bill of Beebe
and Swearingen be approved for payment when funds are available. Motion.
carried.
