The City Counc i I, of the C i ty of Pa i'rhope met in regular session at the City
HaII, Monday, August 27, 1956 with .the fallowing members presents Mayor E. B.
Overton, City Manager C. B. Niemeyer', Councilmen: M. 0. bergIin, L. E.
Blatchiford, R. H. Brown, R. C. Macon and J. D. Mason.
The minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved as read.
Mr. Wm. Ruffles, Jr., Chairman of the Park and Recreation Committee sub-
mitted the committees revert to the Council as felIowS:
Motion by Counci tman Mason seconded by 'ounc i I man Brown that ithe Mayor and
City Council. give the Park and Recreation Committee a vote of thanks for
their exceptionally fine work and report on our beach and recreational problem.
Motion carried.
Motion by C ounc:iIman BIatc:hford seconded' by Councilman Berg Iin that the 4ity
extend gas service line on Belforest Road in Daphne. Motion carried.
A request from Joe Hipsh for lease of property for commercial fishing purposes
was read and held for further study.
Motion by C ounciIman Macon seconded by councilman Brown that the request of
Harley M. Frye for one parking space for taxi on the Southwest corner of Greer's
Storey be grantteal. Motion carried.
A letter from Charles F. Belew, Chairman of Beach Development Committee, Fairhope
Junion Chamber of Commerce, was read and discussed by the Council. Motion by
Councilman Brown seconded by Councilman Mason that the Mayor write the Junior'
Chamber of Commerce expressing the thanks of the City Administration for their
interest and requesting that they contact and work with the Park and Recreation
Committee. Motion carried.
Motion by Cmunci Iman dergl in seconded by C-ounci Iman Blatchford that the follow-
ing Resolution be adopted. Motion carried.
It appears that Mayor E. B. Overton is a candidate for re-election and has
opposition,
Now Therefore Be It Resolved that R. Roy Moyers be and he is elected to
perform the duties; required to be performed by the Mayor in the matter of
such election.
Belt Further Resolved that Election Officers for City Election to be
held on September IT, 1956:be appointed as follewsr
