HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-23-1956 Regular MeetingSTATE OF ALABAIAA County of Baldwin The City C ounciI of the City of Fairhope met in regular session at the City Hall, Monday„ J'uly 23, 1956 with the following members peesent: Mayor E. B. Overton,, City iManager C. B. Niemeyer, Counci Imen: M. 0. Bergl in,. L. E. Blatchford, R. C. Macon and J. D. Mason. Counci Iman R. H. Brown being absent. The minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved as read. i:ir.. Manning Spotswood of Film Productions:, Inc., met with the Council in regards to mak(bng a film of Fairhope for Televrision. No action talcen. Motion by Councilman Mason seconded by C ouncilman Berglin that the application of Modern Sign Co.. to hang sicn a.t Bama Jewelers, Fairhope Avenue and Eastern ShoreCleaners, S. Section St., be approved. Motion carried. Motion .by Councilman Mason seconded by Councilman Berglin that the request of the Fairhope Yacht Club to build Outboard Boat Sher; at Fly Creek be approved as submitted. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Mason seconded by C ouncilman Berglin that the request 6f the Fairhope Yacht Club to build Cruiser Shed at Fly Creep be approved as submitted. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Berglin seconded by Councilman Macon that the following R Resolution be adopted. Motion carried.. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOFE that an e1ection'is hereby c&11ed to be held on the 17th day of September, 1956 at - City Hall, Red Cross Buil.ding and Agriculture Bui Icing of the. Junior High School within the, City of Fairhope for the purpose of electing a mayor and f-ive councilmen for the City of Fairhope for a four year term commencing or the First Monday in October, 1956, at which said election allqualified electors residing within the corporate Limits of the City of Fairhope may participate. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and Clerk be and they are hereby authorized and directed to give notice of said election by publication in the Fairhope Courier, a newspaper published in the City of Fairhope, not less than 40 days before the date of said election. Motion by Councilman Berglin seconded by Councilman Macon that the City Clerk be authorized and directed to prepare voting list for the City election to beheld September 17, 1956. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Macon seconded by Councilman Blatchford that Councilman Berglin be authorized to purchase a used Austin —Weston Street Sweeper from Sch i ros Mach i nery Works of New Or ears, La., for 1 ,000.00 F. 0. B. Fa i rhope. Motion carried. It was duly moved and seconded that the meeting adjourn. Motion carried. Approved EA, Mayor Affest City Clerk
