HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-28-1956 Regular MeetingSTATE OF ALABAPIA r County cf Baldwin The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session at the City Hal I, Monday ,"h 28, 1956 with the foIIowing members present: Mayor E. B. Overton,. Councilmen: M.O. Berglin, R. H. Brown, L. E. Blatchford, R. C. Macon and J'. D. Mason. The minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved as read. Motion by Councilman Macon seconded by Councilman Blatchford that the follow— ing Resolution be adopted. Moticn carried. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE that this City Council does ascertain, find and determine that it is to the best interest of the City of Fairhope and of the Citizens of the City of Fairhope, Alabama that a public hospital beerected, operated and maintained at Fairhope, Alabama, jointly with Baldwin County. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that upon Baldwin C ounty's having appropriated M0,000.00 for t-he construction of a hospital in the City of Fairhope, that the City of Fairhope join with Baldwin County in the establishment of a hospital in the City of'Fairhope upon the following basis: That Baldwin County appropriatec'$100,000.00 for the purpose of constructing such hospital in the City of Fairhope and the City of Fairhope provide the site therefor acceptable to the,State and Federal Authorities and the City of Fairhope make such guarantee of maintenance and operation as shall be acceptable to and approved by the State and Federal authorities, and that the city and county make joint application fr)r State and Federal aid in the construction of such hospital. But the joint establishment of a public hospital at Fairhope is conditioned upon obtaining State aid or Federal aid, either or both,. in sufficient amount together with county appropriation and such money as the city shall appropriate or raise to construct a hospital. BE IT -FURTHER RESOLVED that E. B. Overton, as mayor of the City of Fairhope, be and he is hereby authorized and directed to join with Baldwin County in making application to the State and Federal authorities for aid in the construction of a public hospital at Fairhope and to execute and sign any and all necessary and proper agreements with Baldwin County and State and Federal authorities to make application for State and Federal aid jointly with Baldwin County, and to do and perform any and all things necessary and proper to obtain State and Federal aid for the construction of such hospital under the terms and conditions and within the purview -of this resolution.
