March 26, 1956 w i th the following members pre -sent r Mayor E. B. Overton, City Manager C. B. Niemeyer, Councilmen: M. 0. Berglin, L. E. Blatchford„ R. H. Brown and J. D. Mason„ Councilman R. C. Macon being absent. The minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved as read. Mr. & Mrs. Cline of the PiggIy Wiggly store met with the Council with a request that Church Street from Fairhope Avenue to Magnolia Avenue be included 1'n the two hour parking zone. After a general discussion it was decided to inclyde Delmar Street from Section to Church and Church Street from Delmar to Magnolia Street in the two hour parking. Mr. John Beasley, Mr. Henry Bishop and Mr. Ernest Bailey, representing the Hospital committee, met with the Council to discuss plans for securing a new hospital for the City.. It was agreed that Mayor Overton and Councilman Mason would go with the committee on Tuesday to meet with the County Hospital Board in Bay Minette. Mr. Leon Leak met with the Council to discuss a radio station for the City. No action taken. Motion by Councilman Berglin seconded bryrCounciIman Brown that the Fairhope Theatre amusement tax of 21V' on eachAticket be extended: to October I, 1956. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Berglin seconded by Councilman Brown that Claude Arnold be authorized to draw up plans and specifications for paving Church Street. Motion carried. A petition for vacation of Pensacola 'Avenue between Eastern Shore Boulevard and Perdido Avenue was presented to the Council and held for further study.
