HomeMy WebLinkAbout01-23-1956 Regular MeetingSTATE OF ALABAMA County of Baldwin Thee City Council of the City of Fa i rhope met in regular session at the City Hall, Monday, 4anua.ry 23,. 1956 with the following members present: Mayor E. B. Overton, City Manager C. B. Niemeyer, Councilmen: L. E. Blatchford, R. H. Brown, R. C. Macon and J. D. Mason, Councilman Berglin being absent. The minutes of. the previous regular meeting were read and approved as read. Mr. F. E.'+yiggins, Fire Chief, met with the Council to request theCity to purchase a Scott Air -Pak for the Volunteer Fire Department. Motion by Councilman Brown seconded by Councilman Mason that the City purchase a Scott Air -Pak, complete with carrying case and one a,ir tank. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Macon seconded by Councilman Brown that the resignation of Mr.. H. G. McKean fromthe Board of Adjustment be accepted. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Macon seconded by Councilman Brown that Mr. Fred G. Smith be appointed to the Board of Adjustment to fill vacancy caused by the resignation of Mr. H.G. McKean. ` Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Mason seconded by Councilman Macon that Higgins Mortuary be given permission to remove 27 feet of concrete curb on Fels Avenue to make driveway for the Mortuary. Motion carried. Motion carried. A letter from the Eastern Shore Art Association requesting permission to build on Park property was read and discussed by the Council. The Mayor Appointed Councilman Macon and Councilman Mason to consult with the Art Association and the Fairhope Single Tax Corporation to work out the details. Motion by Councilman Macon seconded by C ounciIman 61atchford that the building permit issued to Mr. A. M. '-3;-`es on Jan. 11, 1956, be and the same is hereby ratified and approved and construction of building authorized as an exception to Ord. # 231. Motion carried.
