County of Baldwin
The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular
session at the City Hall, Monday, July 11, 1955 with the
following members present: Mayor E. B. Overton, City Manager
C. B. Niemeyer, Councilmen: M. 0. Berglin, R. H. Brown, R.C.
Macon and J. D. Mason, Councilman L. E. Blatchford being absent.
The minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and
approved as read.
Mr. Ching, Mr. Gates, Mr. Moore and Mrs. Jacobs met with the
Council to discuss the possibility of paving a portion of
Pecan Street below Church Street, the property owners to pay
the cost of same.
Motion by Councilman Brown seconded by Councilman Macon that
the city haul dirt on existing culverts on Fairwood Boulevard
as requested by Mr. Day of the State Highway Department.
Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Mahon seconded by Councilman Mason that
the City approve the construction of a five foot concrete
sidewalk on the east side of Church St. as submitted by the
Fairhope Single Tax Corporation. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Brown seconded by Councilman Berglin
that the City approve the Gooden Subdivision as approved by
the City Planning Commission. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilmen Mason seconded by Councilman Berglin
that the City approve the Park Terrace Subdivision, Unit #1
as approved by the City Planning Commission. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Mason seconded by Councilman Berglin
that the name of Gayfer Street be used continuously from
Section Street to Greeno Boulevard as requested by the City
Planning Commission. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Berglin seconded by Councilman Brown
that the City accept the proposed agreement between the State
Planning Board and the City Planning Commission, this agreement
to supersede all previous contracts of the two parties. Motion
carried.
Motion -by Councilman Macon seconded by Councilman Mason that
the City approve the Fairhope Single Tax Corporation proposal
for paving a portion of Johnson Street and Berglin Street as
approved by the City Planning Commission. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Mason seconded by Councilman Berglin that
the application of Standard Oil Company to install a 280 _
gallon gas tank underground at the Southeast corner of Fairhope
and Church be approved. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Berglin seconded by Councilman Mason
that the application of the Fairhope Christian Church to install
signs within the City Limits be approved subject to the approval
of the Mayor aU City Manager as to exact location of signs.
Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Macon seconded by Councilman Berglin that
no building permits be issued in any subdivision which has
not been approved by the City Planning Commission.and-the-City-; c.
Council. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Mason seconded by Councilman Berglin
that the following bills be approved for payment:
