HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-23-1955 Regular MeetingSTATE OF ALABAMA County of Baldwin The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session at the City Hall, Monday, May 23, 1955 with the following members present: Mayor E. B. Overton, City Manager C. B. Niemeyer, Councilmen: M. 0. Berglin, L. E. Blatchford, R. H. Brown, R. C. Mason and J. D. Mason. The minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved as read. Motion by Councilman Berglin seconded by Councilman Mason that Stop Signs be placed on the corner of Equality and Ban- croft Streets giving Bancroft Street the right of way. Motion carried. A letter from the Taxpayers Association concerning the garbage Ordinance was read to the Council. The Council agreed that Mayor Overton, City Manager Niemeyer and Councilman Macon should check with Eugene Bosby on garbage pick-up twice a week in the residential areas during the summer months. A letter from Klumpp Motor Company was read to the Council and held for further information. Motion by Councilman Blatchford seconded by Councilman Macon that the application of Mr. A. L. McCue to build concrete island on North Section Street in front of his business be disapproved. Motion,Carried. Councilman Berglin not voting. Motion by Councilman Mason seconded by Councilman Brown that the application of Dr. E. C. Dillabaugh to place sign in front of his property on Fairhope Avenue be approved. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Macon seconded by Councilman Mason that the Building Code be ammended to limit time of building permit to one year from date of issue. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Berglin seconded by Councilman Brown that the following Resolution be adopted: Motion carried. WHEREAS, it appearing that the minutes of the City Council of the City of Fairhope of its meeting of the 25th day of May, 1953, relating to the terms of office of the persons appointed by the Honorable T. J. Klumpp, Sr., then mayor, to the City Planning Commission does, not show the term of office of each of the appointees as required by law, and the Honorable T. J. Klumpp, Sr., Mayor at that time has certified to this council their respective terms of office by letter, in words and Figures as f ollows : Honorable E. and Council of Fairhope Gentlemen: B. Overton of the City May 14, 1955 I have a letter from the Honorable E. B. Overton, Mayor of the City of Fairhope, calling'my attention to the fact that in making the appointments of the members of the Planning Commission for the City of Fairhope on the 25th day of May, 1953, the minutes do not show the respective terms of Ofice of each of these commissions. ot I appointed them for terms of office as follows: Cecil Pitman for one year. Ted Page for two years. Mrs. H. P. Kamper for three years. John S. Huffman for four years. J. E. Gaston for five years. J. E. Wooley for six years. Klumpp, Sr., NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Fairhope that that portion of the minutes.of the City Council of the City of Fairhope of its meeting of the 25th day of May, 1953, relating to the appointment by the mayor of six members of the City Planning Commission, be and the same is hereby corrected and amended to read as follows: The Mayor then appointed the following members to serve on the Planning Commission: Cecil Pitman for one year,' Ted Page for two years, Mrs. H. P. Kamper for three years, John S. Huffman for four years, J. E. Gaston for five years and J. E. Woolley for six years. It was duly moved and seconded that the meeting adjourn. Motion carried.
