HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-14-1955 Regular MeetingSTATE OF ALABAMA County of Baldwin The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session at the City Hall, Monday, March 14, 1955 Sith the following members present: Mayor E. B. Overton, City Manager C. B. Niemeyer, Council- men M. 0. Berglin, L. E. Blatchford, R. H. Brown, R. C. Macon and J. D. Mason. The minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved as read. Mayor Overton appointed Councilman Blatchford and Councilmen Macon to check further into the possibility of extending the City Limits and of having a census taken at this time. A letter from Mr. Howard C. Rush, Jr.,.,President of PTE., requesting benches for school yard was read to the Council. A letter from Women's Civic/Club concerning a second police car was read to the Council. Mayor Overton appointed Councilman Macon to contact Highway./Patrol to see if we could get a patrolman in this area. Motion by Councilman Mason seconded by Councilman Berglin that the following Resolution be adopted: Motion carried. BE IT RESOLVED that E. B. Overton, Mayor, and Marie Moore, City Clerk, be and they are hereby authorized and directed to enter into contract with United Gas Pipe Line Company for natural gas in accordance with contract on file for period beginning Oct. 11 1954 and en#ing October, 1962. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Mason seconded by Councilman Berglin that the following bills be approved for payment: Motion carried. General Fund: 55.46 Remington Rand James L. Motion by Councilman Blatchford seconded by Councilman Berglin that the following Resolution be adopted: Motion carried. 11 BE IT RESOLVED that E. B. Overton, T'jayor, be and he is hereby authorized and directed to acquire the following described lands by condemnation proceedings for a public street within the City of Fairhope, Baldwin County, Alabama, to -wit: Beginning at the Northwest corner of the Northeast �?uarter of Section 17, T6S2 RUE, run North 25 feet and S 890 59' %V 170 feet, for a point of beginning; thence run S 86" 31' N, 345.2 feet to the Southeast corner of Block 13 of Volanta Subdivision, according to map thereof re- corded in 'Jisc. Book 1, Page 341, Probate Records, Bald- win County, Alabama; thence run South 50.1 feet; thence run N 86' 311 E 345.2 feet; thence run North 50 feet to the point of beginning.
