County of Baldwin
The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session
at the City Hall, Monday, January 109 1955 with the following
members present: Mayor E. B. Overton, City Manager C. B.
Niemeyer, Councilmen: M. 0. Berglin, L. E. Blatchford, R. H.
Brown, R. C. Macon and J. D. Mason.
The minutes of the previous regular meeting were approved as
read.
Motion by Councilman Berglin seconded by Councilman Brown that
the Mayor be authorized and directed to negotiate for new fire
truck and pump on a lease basis according to specifications on
file. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Berglin seconded by Councilman Brown that
the following Resolutionbeadoptedt Motion carried.
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Fairhope,
Alabama that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized and directed
to make application to the Civil Defense for assistance in the
purchase of new Fire Truck and Equipment.
Motion by Councilman Mason seconded by Councilman Berglin that
the Council designate Frank Wiggins, Chief of the Volunteer
Fire Department, as Fire Inspector with full authority to inspect
any and all building and report any hazards to the City Manager.
Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Brown seconded by Councilman Macon that
the City accept low bid of Klumpp Motor Company on 3/4 ton
pick-up truck for the gas department. Motion carried.
The permit of A. E. Schermer for new building on Lot 61 Block 12,
Division 4 was approved.tat The permit of proposed building on
Lot 8 on School Street was submitted to the City Planning Board
for approval.
Motion by Councilman Berglin seconded by Councilman Brown that
the City accept bid received on the two 1934 trucks owned by
the City. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Masonsseconded by Councilman Macon that
the following bills be approved for payment: Motion carried.
