County of Baldwin
The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular
session at the City Hall, Monday, October 25, 1954 with
the following members present: Mayor E. B. Overton, City
Manager C. B. Niemeyer, Councilmen: M. 0. Berglin, R. H.
Brown, L. E. Blatchford, R. C. Macon and J. D. Mason.
The minutes of the previous regular meeting were approved
as read.
Motion by Councilman Macon seconded by Councilman Berglin
that permit of Fairhope Theater to repair building be
approved as submitted. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Mason seconded by Councilman Macon that
the City contribute $25.00 to the annual Boy Scout Drive.
Motion carried.
Mr. L. C. Maury presented plans and specifications for drain-
age in the Volanta area. The Mayor appointed Councilman
Berglin and Councilman Brown to meet with Mr. Maury for
further discussion.
Motion by Councilman Mason seconded by Councilman Brown
that the Council give Mr. Chas. Burkel a Quit -Claim deed
to the following described property pursuant to Resolution
of Council proceedings of February 14, 1944.
From the iron pipe at the southwest corner of the
intersection of Beach View Avenue and Pier Street
run north 58 degrees and no minutes west 187.5
feet along the south side of Pier Street for a
point of beginning, thence south 30 degrees and
forty minutes west 110 feet to a point, thence north
58 degrees andfminutes west 84 feet to a point,
thence north 30 degrees and 40 minutes east to the
south side of Pier Street, thence along the south
side of Pier Street to beginning.
It was further agreed that the Council waive the City Taxes
for the year 1948 on the above property. Motion carried.
Mr. C. H. Woodward, Chief of the Volunteer Fire Department,
Mr. Pete Wiggins and Mr. George Dyson requested a new fire
truck for the Volunteer Fire Department. Action held for
future date. "
It was duly moved and seconded that the meeting adjourn.
Motion carried.
