County of Baldwin
The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session
at the City Hall, Monday, October 11, 1954 with the following
members present: Mayor E. B. Overton, City Manager C.B. Nieneyerg
Councilmen: M. 0. Berglin, L. E. Blatchford, R. H. Brown, R. C.
Macon and J. D. Mason.
The minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved
as read.
A report from Mr. Byrd Moore and committee appointed by the Mayor
concerning drainage in Volanta area was presented to the Council.
After a general discussion the report was held for further con-
sideration and action.
This being date and time set for public hearing on Zoning Ordinance #3/
introduced at the regular meeting of September 13 1954, no protests
having been made Councilman Macon moved its adoption which motion
was seconded by Councilman Blatchford. Upon being put to vote the
following vote was recorded: Voting Yes, Councilman Berglin,
Blatchford, Brown Macon and Mason$ Against: None. The Mayor
thereupon declared the Ordinance finally adopted and signed the
same in approval thereof.
Mr. Belew and Mr. Bain met with the Council requesting the City
to improve Kumquat Street. The Mayor authorized the City Manager
to get approximate cost of paving and drainage in this section.
Mrs. Bishopq President of Women's Civic Club, met with the Council
in regards to dog situation in the City.
Motion by Councilman Blatchford seconded by Councilman Berglin
that the City build new dog pound. Motion carried.
A Resolution offered by the Southern Bell Telephone Company was
held for further consideration.
Motion by Councilman Mason seconded by Councilman BlAtehford that
the following bills be approved for payment:

Motion by Councilman Brown seconded by Councilman Mason that
contract to paint City Hall be let to lowest bidder. Motion
carried.
Motion by Councilman Brown seconded by Councilman Mason that the
Auditors, Smith, Dukes and Buekalewq be authorized to write off
all uncollectible accounts as bad debts. Motion carried.
It was duly mowed and seconded that the meeting adjourn. Motion
carried.
