The City @ouncil of the City of Fairhope met in regular session
at the City Hall, Monday, December 14, 1953 with the following
members present: Mayor T.J. Klumpp, City Manager C. B. Niemeyer,
Councilmen: M. 0. Berglin, L. E. Blatchford, R. C. Macon, J. D.
Mason and E. B. Overton.
The minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and
approved as read.
Motion by Councilman Mason seconded by Councilman Macon that the
following bills be approved for payment:

Mr. Isadore Reynolds met with the Council to discuss the
possibility of dredging the harbor at Fly Creek. Mayor Klumpp
appointed Councilman Overton andItity Manager to investigate and
report to the Council at their next regular meeting.
Mr. Childs, representing Eureka Fire Hose Co., and Mr. Harry
Harless representing "L P" Harless Co. met with the Council in
regards to fire hose for the Volunteer Fire Department.
Mr. Byrd Moore presented to the Council a survey of work needed
in the Magnolia Beach area.
Mr. Brooks Hollman, representative of Hugo Marx & Co.$ Birmingham,
discussed with the Council the possibility of issulKing Street
Assessment Bonds in order to carry out the work suggested by
Mr. Moore and other street improvements in the City.
On motion by Councilman Macon seconded by Councilman Overton the
following Resolution was adopted:
BE IT RESOLVED by the .City Council that the Mayor be authorized
and directed to enter into agreement with Mr. Brooks Hollman,
representative of Hugo Marx & Co., Birmingham, for the issuance
and sale of Street Improven ent Bonds in words and figures as
follows:

Therefore, you do hereby appoint us as your sole, exclusive, irrevocable
agents to make every effort to obtain the necessary funds for you. We
agree to furnish to you for passage by you, free of charge, all of the
necessary legal papers, resolutions, ordinances, etc. deemed necessary
�rind proper by ou attorneys in order to obtain the approving legal
opinion of recognized Bond Attorneys. The printed security blanks and
:necessary advertisements, if needed, for sale and issuance of your
securities. We will assist you in every way in setting up your secu-
rities so as to enable you to obtain the best interest rate available
on the said securities. We will pay all other expenses, incurrqjd by
us, incidental to the legal Issuance of the said securities. r

In consideration of our work on your behalf, and our a pA oo�omi°
incurred in this financing, you are to pay to us the sum of
she principal amount of securities issued at the time of issuance of
said securities. If no money is borrowed or no securities issued then
you will owe us nothing.
If this is with your agreement and understanding, please
signify your acceptance on the bottom hereof.

Motion by Councilman Blatchford seconded by Councilman Mason
that the City request the Fairhope Single Tax Corporation
to deed to the City the necessaryy rightEof-way to widen the
following streets to a width of 80 feet: Bancroft from
Magnolia to Morphy, Morphy from School to Bancroft and School
from Morphy to Fairhope.Avenue. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Mason seconded by Councilman Macon that
the application of Jones -Powers to hang signs on Section street
and Magnolia Ave. be approved as per sketch submitted. Motion
carried.
Motion by Councilman Macon seconded by Councilman Blatchford
that the City authorize the Planning Board to purchase a years
subscription to "Planning Advisory Service". Motion carried.
It was duly moved and seconded that the meeting adjourn.
