HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-12-1953 Regular MeetingSTATE'OF ALABAMA County of Baldwin The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session at the City Hall Monday, October 12, 1953 with the following members presen�: Mayor T. J. Klumpp City Manager C. B. Niemeyer, Councilmen: M. 0. Berglin, L. L Blatchford, M. C. Vacon and J. D. Mason. Councilman Overton being absent. The minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved as read. Motion by Councilman Mason seconded by Councilman Macon that the following bills be approved for payment: General Fund: Carl L. Bloxham Agency 18.48 Carl L. Motioncarried. Motion by Councilman Macon seconded by Councilman Mason that the building permit of R. M. Davis be approved. Motion carrie d. Motion by Councilman Blatchford seconded by Councilman Mason that the Mayor be authorized and directed to enter into contract, with Mr. H. S. St. John for survey of electrical distribution system. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Macon seconded by Councilman Blatchford that the following Resolution be adopted: BE IT RESOLVED that from and after the passage of this Resolution any person desiring gas or electric service connection to Municipal gas or electric lines shall make application to the City Clerk who shall as soon as practical cause the costs of making such connections to be ascertained and such costs thereof shall be paid into the City Clerk in advance of making such connection. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Blatchford seconded by Councilman Macon that the Mayor be authorized and directed to enter into contract with the State Highway Department concerning State and City participation in the improvement of certain streets. The -Council agreed to change parking on Highway 89 to parallel parking. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Macon seconded by Councilman Blatchford that the City Carry out survey made by traffic engineer. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Mason seconded by Councilman Macon that the City donate use of ball field Saturday, October 17, for football game sponsered by the V. F. W. for benefit of the School Band.
