HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-14-1953 Regular MeetingSTATE OF ALABAMA County of Baldwin The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session at the City Hall, Monday, September 14, 1953 with the following members present: Mayor T. J. Klumpp, City Manager C. B. Niemeyer, Councilmen M. 0. Berglin, L. E. Blatchford, R. C. Macon, J. D. Mason and E. B. Overton. The minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved as read. Motion by Councilman Mason seconded by Councilman Overton that the following bills be approved for payment: General Fund: Eastern Shore Machine Shop Klumpp Motor Co., Inc. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Mason seconded by Councilman Macon that Electric line be run 700 feet north on Fairwood Blvd. thence East 200 feet. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Overton seconded by Councilman Mason that insurance on fleet jai be renewed with Bloxham Insurance Company. Motion carried. - Councilman Macon introduced the following Ordinance: ORDINANCE # 222• AN ORDINANCE AMENDING OFJDINANCE # 221 providing FOR GENERAL LICENSE TAXES IN THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE, ALABAMA AND IN IT'S POLICE JURISDICTION. BE IT ORDAINCED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TTE CITY OF FAIRHOPE, ALA* BAMA as follows: SECTION 1. That Schedules 24, 58 and 92 of Ordinance # 221 be and are repealed. SECTION 2. To amend Sechedule # 31 to read as follows: SCHEDULE 31. BUILDING, PLUMBING, ELECTRIC OR PAINTING CONTRACTORS, including those who take jobs and re- pair work or painting including Building, Plumbing, Elect- rical or Painting Contractors or builders for someone other than self � Those who take contracts between $25.00 and $500.00 - -.--$15.00 Those who take contracts between $500.00 and $2500.00 - - - 25.00 Those who take contracts over $2500,00 - - - - - - - - - - 50.00 SECTION 3. Tp amend Schedule #115 as follo'Ws: SCHEDULE 115. TOURIST COURTS, MOTELS, HOTELS, ROOFING HOUSES AND BOARDING HOUSES with one to three rooms Five Dollars ($5.00); Four to Six Rooms, Ten Dollars (#10.00); Seven to Ten Rooms, Fifteen Dollars ($15.00); Eleven to Twenty Five Rooms, Twenty -Five Dollars ($25.00); over Twenty Five Rooms, Fifty Dollars ($50.00). SECTION 5. To amend Schedule #150 as follows: SCHEDULE 150. RESIDENT REAL ESTATE AGENTS $25.00 Non -RESIDENT REAL ESTATE AGENTS doing business in or selling or offering for sale Real Estate situated in the Corporate Limits of the City of Fairhope, Sixty Dollars ($60.00). SECTION 6. To further amend by adding Schedule 24 as follows: SCHEDULE 24. GAS BUTANE OR PROPONE OR LIQUDED PETROLEUM DEALER , Fifty Dollars ?$50.00) Councilman Macon moved that the rules be suspended and un- animous consent be given for immediate consideration of an action on said Ordinance, which motion was seconded by Councilman Overton and upon the motion being put to vote the follwoing vote was recorded; Voting Yes, Mayor Klumpp, Councilmen M. 0. Berglin, L. E. Blatchford, R. C. Macon, J. D. Mason and E. B. Overton, Voting Hay; None. The Mayor thereupon declared that the motion for unanimous consent for immediate consideration of and action on said Ordinance had been unanimously carried., Councilman Mason thereupon moved that the said Ordinance be finally adopted, which motion was seconded by Councilman Blatchford and upon said motion being put to vote the following vote was recorded: Yeas, Mayor Klumpp, Councilmen M. 0. Berglin, L. E. Blatchford, R. C. Macon, J. D. Masonand E. B. Overton; Nays, None. The Mayor then announced that the motion for adoption of said Ordinance had been unanimously xx carried and signed the same in approval thereof. Done this the 14th day of September, 1953.
