County of Baldwin
The City Council of the City ofFairhope met in regular session
at the City Hall, May 25, 1953 with the following members
present: Mayor T. J. Klumpp, City Manager C. B. Niemeyer,
Councilmen M. 0. Berglin, L. E. Blatchford, R. C. Macon and
E. B. Overton. Councilman J. D. Mason being absent.
The minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and
approved as read.
Motion by Councilman Berglin seconded by Councilman Macon that
the City pay $100.00 toward expense of the Volunteer Firemen
to attend fire school. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Macon seconded by Councilman Overton that
the revised application of Mrs. J. R. Walsh for building permit
be approved. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Berglin seconded by Councilman Blatch-
ford that the following Resolution be adopted. Motion carried.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL that the Mayor be authorized
and directed to appoint a City Planning Commission consisting
of not less than nine members headed by the Mayor, one adminis-
trative official appointed by the Mayor, one member of the
City Council appointed by the governing body aAd not less than -
six members at large appointed by the Mayor.
The Mayor is further authorized and directed to enter into con-
tract with the State Planning Board and to appropriate $450.00
in four equal installments for the purpose of carrying out
conditions of said contract.
Motion by Councilman Overton seconded by Councilman Blatchford
that R. C. Macon be appointed to City Planning Commission as
representative of City Council. Motion carried.
The Mayor then appointed the following members ,to serve on
Planning Commission:�Mr. Byrd E. Moores Mr. Cecil Pitman,
Mr. J. E. Gaston, Sr., Mr. John Huffman, Mr. J. E. Woolley,
Mr. Ted Page and one memberlof the Women's Civic Club)
Three bids were received on the Worthington Mower and Equipment.
These bids were read to the Council and all bids rejected.
It was duly moved qnd seconded that the meeting adjourn.
Motion carried.
