HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-09-1953 Regular MeetingSTATE OF ALABAMA County of ,Baldwin The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session at the City Hall Monday, March 9, 1953 with the following members present: Mayor T. J. Klumpp, City Manager C. B. Niemeyer, Councilmen: M. 0. Berglin, L. E. Blatchford, R. C. Macon, J. D. Mason,and E. B. Overton. The minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved as read. Motion by Councilman Overton seconded by Councilman MASON that the following bills be approved for payment: Hastings Typewriter Co. 5.85 Ala. Fund 830.00 Gas Fund 565.65 Mr: Rickarby reported that the Civil Defense does not consider Fairhope in the target zone and therefore cannot give us any help on a new siren. Motion by Councilman Overton seconded by Councilman Blatchford that a new siren be installed for a trial period and if it meets the requirements the City Council to purchase same. Motion carried. The Council discussed the feasibility of putting on a fee for fire calls outside the City Limits and Police Jurisdic- tion but no action taken. Motion by Councilman Berglin seconded by Councilman Blatch- ford that the City accept the bid of Mr. J. M. Ponder as high bidder for the machinery in old Pump House on the beach. Motion carried. Business Licenses were discussed and Mayor Blumpp appointed Mr. R. C. Macon, Mr. Ed Overton, and Mr. C. B. Niemeyer to draw up license schedule and present it to the Council at their meeting of March 239 1953 for discussion and passage. Motion by Councilman Mason seconded by Councilman Berglin t that the meeting adjourn. Motion carried. Approved Mayor Attest: in_ -a City Clerk
