COUNTY OF BALDWIN
The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular
session at the City Hall, June 9, 1952 with the follow-
ing members present: Mayor T.J. Klumpp, City Manager
C. B. Niemeyer, Councilmen: M. 0. Berglin, J. D. Mason,
E. B. Overton and Ira Steele, Councilman J.T.Bradford
being absent.
Motion by Councilman•Berglin seconded by Councilman
Steele the minutes of the previous regular meeting were
read and approved as read. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Berglin seconded by Councilman Steele
that the following bills be approved for payment: Motion
carried.

Rev. Wakefield representing the Fairhope Baptist Church met
with the Council regarding the issueing of retail liquor
permits to other than private clubs in the City.
Mr. Cecil Pitman, President of the Fairhope Chamber of
Commerce, met with the Council to discuss the possibility
of extending the one hour parking district an additional
block West on Fairhope Avenue and one block North on Church
Street, making Fairhope Avenue between Church and Section St.
one hour parking until 9:00 P.M. The Chamber of Commerce
also requested that the City appoint a Park Board consisting
of three members from the City at large, one from the Single
Tax Colony and one from the City Council to provide ways and
means for developing the beach in Fairhope. No action taken
at this time.
Motion by Councilman Steele seconded by Councilman Overton
that the City donate $200.00 to the Fairhope Youth Council.
Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Overton seconded by Councilman Mason
that the application of Mr. Kenneth Cain for permit
to build three cottages on Oswalt Street, Division 4, be
approved as per sketch submitted to the Council. Motion
carried.
Motion by Councilmar�,Steele seconded by Councilman Berglin
that the City take G fi� Ad in Alabama 6heriffs' and
Peace Officers' Journal. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Berglin seconded by Councilman Overton
that the building permit of Jack McDavid at the Barnacle
be approved. Motion carried.
Mr. Huggins, representing the property owners on Orange Street
between Mobile Avenue and South Bay View, presented.a
petition to the Council to have that section of Orange Street
paved, cost of paving to be paid by property owners..
Petition held over for further consideration)
Motion by Councilman Steele seconded by Councilman Berglin
that the meeting adjourn. Motion carried.
