HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-13-1951 Regular MeetingSTATE OF ALABAMA COUNTY OF BALDWIN The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session at the City Hall on Monday, Aug st 13, 1951 with the following members present: Mayor T.J. Klumpp, City Superintendent C. B. Niemeyer, Councilmen: M. 01 Berglin, J. T. Bradford, R.H. Brown, E. B. Overton and Ira Steele. On motion by Councilman Steele seconded by Councilman Overton the minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved as read. Motion by Councilman Overton seconded by Councilman Berglin that the following bills be approved for payment: Melton's Garage $ 53.30 A-G Service Station 1.50 Ala. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman "radford seconded by Councilman Berglin that Mr. j. A . Rhodes be nominated to the County Board of Equalization. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Bradford seconded by Councilman Brown that the City do base work for sidewalk on the South side of Fairhope Avenue from School Street to Ingle- side Avenue, the Single Tax Colony to hire contractor through the City to install black top. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Berglin seconded by Councilman Bradford that the application of Jansen Service to place sign at triangle of Fairhope Avenue and Ingleside be disapproved. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Steele seconded by Councilman Brown that the application of Elizabeth Mannich to remodel front of store building next to City Market be approved. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Berglin seconded by Councilman Brown that the Fairhope Theatre be granted permission to repair marquee on theatre. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Berglin seconded by Councilman Overton that the application of Mr. W. N. Olson to hang sign on North Section St. be approved. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Overton seconded by Councilman Berglin that the following Resolution be adopted= BE IT RESOLVED BY the City Council of the City of Fairhope that E. G. Rickarby, Jr., attorney for the City, be author- ized to allow Mr. G. C. Hifner credit of $29.50 on his back taxes in payment for easement for water pipe across Lot 99 Seacliff, provided he pay up the balance due on the back taxes before the 18th of August, 1951.
