HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-08-1950 Regular MeetingSTATE OF ALABAMA County of Baldwin The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session at the City Hall, Monday May 8, 1950 with the following members present: Mayor, T.J.Klumpp, City Superintendent C. B. Niemeyer, Councilmen: M.O. Berglin, J. T. Bradford, R.H. Brown, E. B. Overton and Ira Steele. Motion by Councilman Overton seconded by Councilman Brown that the minutes of the previous regular meeting be approved. Post be granted permission to hold Donkey Ball Game on the Softball Field. Motion carried. A representative of Faulkner Concrete Pipe Co. was present with a request that the City include concrete pipe in their specifications for sewer line. Mr. McDonald presented plans and specifications for a proposed Recreational Build'ng, action to be taken at a later date. Motion by Councilman Steele seconded by Councilman Berglin that the application of John Evans for permit to hang sign on Mobile Avenue be allowed. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Overton seconded by Councilman Brown that the Fairhope Creamery be granted permission to-palce sign in front of Moyers, Fairhope Avenue. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Berglin seconded by Councilman Overton that the building permit of J. R. Wood to build house �51 from Nichols St. be approved. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Berglin seconded by Councilman Steele that the application of Boone -Huffman for building permit on Lot 3-4, Block 8, Div. 1, be allowed. Motion carried. Councilman Bradford called up proposed Ordinance #203 introduced at the regular meeting of March 27, 1950 and moved its adoption. Councilman Brown seconded the motion. Councilman Berglin offered to amend such proposed Ordinance by adding Section 3 to read as follows: SECTION III - Each day such condition shall continue after ten days notice to correct same shall constitute a separite offense. Councilman Brown moved its adoption which motion being seconded by Councilman Overton was put upon its passage with the following results: Voting for the amendment, Mayor Klumpp and Councilmen Berglin, Bradford, Brown, Overton and Steele. Voting against, None. The Mayor declared the amendment adopted. Councilman Brown moved that the Ordinance as amended be adopted which motion being seconded by Councilman Overton was put upon its passage with the following results: Voting for the same, Mayor Klumpp, Councilmen Berglin, Bradford, Brown, Overtonand Steele. Voting against, None. The Mayor declared the Ordinance adopted. Letters from the Fairhope Single Tax Corporation and Jack Howat regarding agreements to extension of Golf Course were discussed and carried over until next regular meeting. Motion by Councilman Brown seconded by Councilman Berglin that the meeting adjourn in unadjourned session to meet on Wednesday, May loth at 2:00 P.M. to canvass the returns and results of the special sewer bond election to be held in the City on May 9, 1950.
