The Town Council of the Town of Fairhope rlet in regular session September 23rd, 191,,0, at the Town Hall, at' 7:30 P. hi. Present: Howard Ruge, TIayor, presiding; Marvin Berglin, Sara Dyson, H. P. Kamper, C. A. Gaston and J. 0. Stimpson, members of said Coun- c il.. The minutes of the previous regular meeting were apnro�ed as read. The follovuing business was transacted: On motion of II. P. Kamper, seconded by Ilarvin Ber-lin, the folio ding Ordinanc:e,having been duly read, was put upon its passage and duly adopted,*., "B IT ORDAII ED BY TI2 TOWN COU1=1L OF THEE TO"11T, OF FAIRHOPL Section 1: That Howard Ruge, i,;ayor of the Town of Fairhope, be and he is hereby required to act as Superin- tendent of the unicipal light and power system and. as Super- intendent of the i:Iunicipal Water and Sewerage system, and as such he shall serve as Purchasing Agent for such systems, make all purchases authorized by the Town Council therefor, keep a check on meter readings and billinEs for service and collection thereof, see that the systems are kept in proper repair and operation, keep an inventory showing the supplies and equipment on hand for such syste;i.s, keep a full and co_ri- plete r,ionthly financial statement of all operating costs and receipts, keep a proper inventory of the physical assets of such s,Tste is �rnd have all such data and inforf.ration rela- tive to such systems available for the Tovm Council at its first I'C.) in each calendar month. Section 2: That in addition to the salary now fixed and. paid to the said Layor of the Town of Fairhope under the gen- eral lave of the State, there shall be paid to coward Ruge, as Superintendent of the light and power system for the ser- vices required of him. in Section 1 hereof, the sure of $75.00 per month payable on the first day of each calendar liionth out of the receipts to the Tovni of Fairhope from such light and power system, and also for his services as Superintendent of the water and sewerage system required under Section 1 of this ordinance, the sum of �25.00 per Month, payable on the first day of each calendar month out of the receipts to such To-vm of such water and sewerage system. Section 3: The Town Council of the Town of Fairhope may at any regular meetin-; or special meeting called therefor, dis- continue the services of the MLayor as Superintendent of the municipal light and power system and as Superintendent of the water and sewerage system, and in the event of such discontinu- ance of his services as such Superintendent of such systems, all compensation authorized to be paid in Section ;,� hereof shall lapse. Section 4: This ordinance shall become effective October 1, 1940, and shall expire September 30, 1944, and sooner if the present Llayor shall vacate the office."
