Gaston and Seconded by Council- man H.P. Kamper that the I.Iayor be. authorized to enter into a contract for painting 7ater Towar and Tank with such company as may be approved by C ounbilman Berglin and I,iayor. '...o tbon Carried. It was moved by Councilman 1.1.0. Berglin and seconded by Council- man C-.A. Gaston that the following resolution be adopted. Uotion carried. BE IT RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of Fairhope: FIRST; That there be and is hereby levied for the taix year 1939 for general purposes an advalorium.tax of 5 mills, that is 50/ on each ,aof taxable property, in the Town of Fairhope. / ®o," SECONM : That there be and is hereby levidd in pursuance of a special election held July 29, 1935, an advalorium tax of 5 mills, that is 50X on each $100.00 of taxable property in the Toy,n of Fairhope, for the tax year 1939 for street lights, fire -fighting equipment and improvement and maintenance of municipal property, THIRD: That E.S. Tunstall be and he is hereby designated and employed to make assessment of all taxable property in the Town of Fairhope liable for municipal advalorium taxes for the year of 1939 and that he be paid therefor the sum of fifty dollars payable upon presentation of bill therefor after such assessments are made and approved; that said assessment be made and returned as provided by law. Adopted this the 9th day of October, 1939. E L l.yor It was moved by Councilman I1,P. Ramper and, seconded by Councilman J.O. Stimpson that the I'ayor be authorized to have the books of the Town audited for the fi6cal year end- ing September 30, 1939. Motion carried. The following ordinance was introduced by Councilman Sam Dyson and read in full by the Clerk. BE IT OR.DA=D BY THE TOWN COTTIMIL OF TI-F", TOWN Or 7: AIR= HOPE: ­�-/41, Section 1. That Howard Ruge,, ;1ayor of the Torn of Fair - hope, be and he is hereby required to act as Superintendent of the `unicipal light and power system and as Superintendent of the municipal water and sewerage system, and as such he shall serve as Purchasing Agent for such systems, make all purchases authorized by the Town Council therefor, keep a check on meter readings and billings for service and the colt&ction thereof, see that the systems are kept in proper repair and operation, keep an inventory showing the supplies and equipment on hand fa' such systems, keep a full and complete monthly financial state- ment of all operating costs and receipts, keep a proper invent- ory of the physical assets of such systems, and have all such data and information relative to such systems available for the Town Council at its first meeting in each calendar month. Section 2. That in addition to the salary now fixed and paid to the said Mayor of the Town of Fairhope under the general law of the State, there shall be paid to Howard Ruge, as Super- intendent of the light and power system and for the services required of him in Section 1 hereof,the sum of $60.00 per month, paybfible on the first day of each calendar month out of t. !� the receipts to the Town of Fairhope from such light and power system, and also for his services as Superintendent of the water and sewerage system required under Section 1 of this ordinance, the sum of $20.00 per month, payable on the first day of each calendar month out of the receipts of such town for such water and sewerage system. Section 3. The Town Council of the Town of Fairhope may at any regular meeting or special meeting called therefor, discontinue the services of the 11'ayor as Superintendent of the "Iunicipal light and power system and as Superintendent of the water and sewerage system, and in the event of such dis- continuance of his services as such Superintendent of such systems, all compensation authorized to be paid in Section 2 hereof shall lapse. Section 4. This ordinance shall become effective Novem- ber 1, 1939 anI shall expire October 1, 1940. It was duly moved and seconded that the meeting - adjourn. .lotion carried. Approved: Attest:
