September 28, 1936. The f ollowibg members were present, h9ward
Ruge, Idayor; M. 0. Berglin, C. z,. Gaston, W. 0. Keeble, T. J. Elumpp, 1
and J. 0. Stimpson, councilmen.
The minutes of the regular meeting oeptember 14, 1936 and special
meeting September 21, 1936 were approved as read.
The following resolution was intr(bduced by councilman C. A,. Gaston
vino moved its adoption, &otion was seconded by councilman W. 0. Keeble.
1�uestion was put by the Clerk and motion carried unanimously,
WHEREAS Mayor Howard Huge nas been called upon to expend an unusual
amount o f time in the conduct of the Town' a business due to the extraocanary
Public Works program in which the 'sown has been engaged and
wHx+' S the kayor has. been pur to a considerable personal expense
through the necessary use of his own automobile im attending to the T'own's
business, both within and without town limits, such as several trips to
.Wontgomery and many trips to Mobile and Bay Minette and
wHERAS such expenditure of time and use of the Mayor's car has
resulted in much benefit and financial saving to the Town for which the
Mayor has not been paid nor the Town rendered any bill,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that we tender to Mayor Edge the sincere
appreciation of the Coubeil for the diligence with which he has safeguarctect
the Town's interests a.nd for the unlimited time he has devoted to his
office at the expense of his personal business interests. And further that
we call upon Mayor Ruge to prepare and render a bill of the expenses in-
curred In the use of his car in the public business so that we may allow
it at our next and last regular meeting on the first Monday in October,
when we discharge the remaining obiligations of the Town incurred dur3.ng,

An ordinance to fi# the salary eiid/compensation of the Mayor
and Councilmen commencing with the term beginning on the first Monday
in October, 1936. was introduced.
!lotion was made by councilman QasA. Gaston and seconded by coun-
cilman J. 0. Stimpson that the unanimous consent of those present be given
for the immediate consideration of the ordinance. Upon roll call the vote

The, mayor declared the motion carried and the ordinance was read

AN ORDINANCE TO FIX THE SALARY AND COMPENSATION OF
THE MAYOR AND C6?UNCILMEN COMMCNCING WITH THE TERM
BEGINNING ON THE FIRST MONDAY TN OCTOBER, 1936.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Town Council of the Town of iairhope that
the salary and compsensation of the Mayor and Councilmen of the Town of
r'airhope commencing with the term beginning on the first Monday in
October 1936 shall be.,
rvor the Iayor $ 600.00 a year payable in equal monthly installments
on the fi.rst day of each calendar month.
yor the Councilmen #2.00 for each regular meeting attended, payable
on the first day of each calendar month.
Motion was made by Councilman Sti#ipso n and seconded by I-o unc i lman
Berglin that the ordinance be adopted as read. Upon roll call the vote
was AYES: goward Ruge, Mayor; M. 0. Berglin, C. A. Gaston, W. 0. Keebte,
T. J. Klumpp and J. O. Sti*pson, uoundilmen.
After hearing the vote the kayor declared the motion carried and
and the ordinance duly adopted.
