The City Co uncil met in a Work Session
at 4 :30 p.m., Fairh ope Municipal Complex Counci l C hamb er,
161 North Secti on Street, Fairhope, Alabama 36532,
on Monday, 22 July 2024.
Present were Co un ci l Pres ident Corey Martin , Counci lm embers: Jack Burrell,
Jimmy Conyers , Jay Robinson, and Kevin Bo o ne (arrived at 4:36 p.m.), Mayor Sherry
Sullivan, City Attorney Marcus E. McDowell, and City Clerk Lisa A. Hanks.
Counci l President Martin ca ll ed the meeting to order at 4:30 p .m.
The fo ll owing topics were discussed :
• The first item on the Agenda was Committee Updates. Councilmember Burrell gave an
update on the Airport Authority and the west side 's FBO and hangars. He mentioned the
transfer of land on west side back to the City of Fairhope; and make it a Light Industrial
Park . Councilmember Burrell gave a brief update on the Recreation Board ; and
mentioned the Harbor Board meeting .
• Counci lm ember Conyers announced the next Library Board meeting is scheduled for
August 19, 2024 . He mentioned the APLC policy will be effective on July 18 , 2024 ; and
policies must be submitted by September 1, 2024 .
• Counci l President Martin gave an update on the Fairhope Environmental Advisory Board
met and want to have sustainable waste project for kids.
• The next it em on the Agenda was Department Head Updates. Planning Director Hunter
Simmons addressed the City Counci l regarding Agenda Items No . 5 , No. 7, and No . 8;
and answered any questions if needed .
• IT Director Jeff Montgomery addressed the City Council regarding Agenda Item No. 25;
and answered any questions if needed .
• City Engineer Richard Johnson addressed the City Counci l and gave an update on the
Flying Creek Nature Preserve , Southland Place ADA Compliance; Pine Street On-Way;
and the Roundabout at the Flower Clock. He addressed Agenda Items No . 11, No . 12,
No . 13 , No . 14 , and No . 15; and answered any questions if needed .
• Cit y Treasurer Kim C reech addressed the City Council regarding Agenda Items No . 9
and No . 1 O; and answered any questions if needed .
• Public Works Director addressed the City Counci l regarding Agenda Item No . 22 ; and
answered any ques tions if needed.
• Community Affairs Director Paige Crawford addressed the City Council regarding
Ag enda Item No. 24 ; and answ e red any questions if needed .
• Water and Wa s tewater Superintendent Daryl Morefield addressed the City Council
regarding Agenda Items No . 16 , No. 17 , No. 18 , and No . 19; and answered any questions
if ne eded .
